ok i have been having the same problems and I would also like to find solutions, to everyone who is discouraged like this dude right here saying give up...... I think if you want to give up then fine but don't argue on this forum don't tell people off saying you have tried and blah blah blah, i agree with the person who started this forum, even though there is an alternate way of playing it still doesn't fix the problem and still allow you to play the game without having to change the settings or play in a browser, and i do hope someone finds a proper solution soon

I believe it already has been solved. This worked for me:
Just a quick summary of what you can do to prevent your minecraft from crashing:
Outside Game Fixes
-Un-install Minecraft and Re-download (don't forget about the .minecraft folder in C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming
-Delete your current Java completely from your computer, re-download and install.
-Update your video AND sound drivers (for I found out that sometimes people get a similar error code and it has to do with the sound of the game) I reccomend having NVIDIA. Reason: "The way it's meant to be played"
-Dowload the newest version of DIRECTX. I wasn't able to find out it this is actually a legit fix but it can never hurt to have.
-Use CCleaner for your registry and then restart your computer.
In-Game Fixes
-Set Render distance to normal, small or tiny.
-Also sometimes you have to play on easy-hard. ( I know this sounds kinda stupid but it has in fact happen to my friend. This should be able to be fixed by using all the above steps.)
I hope this helped some of you. I know it all helped me! Thanks for opening this post Angilis. It really helped me out!
Well i signed up for this forum just to post here and i need some help, i am having the same issue and i dont know to much about video and audio drivers but this is what i have done so far:
Used DxDiag to find that my Main Driver is igdumd64.dll,igd10umd64.dll,igdumd...(cant view the rest) it is version 8.15.10.2189 and my driver model is WDDM 1.1 (dont know if that is relevant)
But im not sure what to do or how to update my driver without screwing up my computer if someone could help me that would be great im really tired of not being able to use Far render distance and being laggy. Also if i look at >Control Panel>System and Security>System>Device Manager>Display Adapters it says i have an Intel HD Graphics
I had been having numerous Java issues as stated in this thread. I updated Video driver as well as reinstalling Java.
I had an epiphany. For anyone using nvidia optimus technology, you must do this!!!!!!!
Because minecraft runs off of the Java program, not it's own program, your nvidia graphics card may not run when you start the program, leaving you with half-assed integrated graphics. I managed to find the test tools that display whether your nvidia gpu is running.
To fix the problem of my gpu not running, I went into my nvidia control panel, went under "manage 3d settings", selected the "program settings" tab. From here I added Javaw to the list of programs to be customized, and made it so that it always uses the nvidia gpu. If you can't find javaw, run minecraft, open up the task manager (ctrl-alt-delete, or ctrl-shift-esc), go to processes, right click it "javaw.exe", and click "open file location". Using that location you should be able to find it. If you have any other questions, hopefully one of the moderators can help you out, as I rarely check forums.
after going through 3617823615 threads, topics, forums
a whole day of instaling/uninstalling the following: (in all possible combinations )
video game drivers, directX, java, various minecraft mods,
and messing with javaw priority in task manager...
Game would usually crash after few minutes tops, with renderer set on far.
The solution turned out to be quite simple - uninstall 32 bit java, click start and run IExplorer(64) bit version
in programs tab - and using 64bit IE - download 64bit java. (it won't let you download 64bit ver of java if you
don't do it this way)
Hope this helps a bit...
I also went through all kinds of uninstalls and reinstalls and updates but stll could not run far mode and even on the lower modes got the same error and game freeze and many times ended up dead and or loosing mats.
I run an i7-920 with 12 gig ram and an EVGA GTX-260.
No reason for it to do this.
I now run far mode and no problems.
I Loaded both 32 bit and 64 bit versions of the latest java.
I run Minecraft server and client from batch files pointing to the 64 bit version of Java.
I run server mode using Bukkit server.
Server batch file is this.
"C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\java" -Xms1024M -Xmx1024M -jar craftbukkit-0.0.1-SNAPSHOT.jar
pause
Client is this.
"C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\java" -Xms1024M -Xmx1024M -jar minecraft.exe
Works great so far.
I hope this helps someone because before I figured this out. I could not run far mode and could only run for a few minutes before the not responding error with black screen.
Edit: This is only for 64 bit systems and the file paths are for Windows 7 ultimate. Your system may vary.
ok.
uninstall java > restart > download and install jdk/jre package @ http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/ ... index.html
then restart > find javaw.exe > right click > compatibilities > run compatible to win xp serv pack 2
>open minecraft.exe > fix
however, I have a speculation that your computer is a hp or a dell? they limit the memory available to java, thus after usually about 3 or so minutes it will freeze up and windows kernel will shut it down as it no longer responds.
off the top of my head the line
java -Xms64m -Xmx256m
fixes this but this is for and ooold version of java... use this at own risk.
I have made an unhappy discovery. I searched this problem on google, in an effort to find the cause of this problem, due to my Minecraft crashing all the time (which is how I found this thread), and discovered that this issue is not exclusive to Minecraft.
I, personally, have not had this problem until roughly a month ago, at which point it just started up and has made minecraft virtually unplayable. I read through this thread and did indeed check my video-drivers, only to find that my driver was as old as the card model itself (5 years old), even though my computer is only 2 years old! After updating my driver, I have the problem much less frequently, but still suffer the problem on occasion...
Back to what I was saying. After searching on google, I have found that this problem is happening to java-based games other than Minecraft, like M.U.L.E., for java, and some other games.
I have not been able to find a solid solution to this problem, though I have found that the cause is directly involved with Java itself, despite that it may be influenced by outside factors (i.e. outdated video drivers).
okay i had the same exact arrer after i got my new computer but now it is totally fixed. first thing i did was download all different versions of java. the errors only appear on java 6, but on java 5.0 the game doesnt freeze and give the error that the binary is not responding. http://www.oldapps.com/java.php?old_java=67 is the link where i downloaded java 5.0 update 22. first uninstall java 6 if you have it, then install java 5.0. now minecraft will run just fine but the problem for me is there was no sound. all the other sounds worked on my pc but minecraft didnt, after a little experimenting, i decided to mess wiht this particular file. in the .minecraft folder (c:\users\username\appdata\roaming or whatever) go to the bin folder, then natives. you should see a few files along with openAL32.dll and openAL64.dll. i moved the al64.dll from the natives folder onto my desktop, started minecraft and poof i had a game that has sound and doesnt freeze! i tried all other solutions on this site but this is what worked for me!
This happened to me yesterday, just the day before Minecraft worked just fine but then yesterday it stopped working with the same message, I've has Minecraft since Alpha was released, I dunno what's going on. I make gaming videos on youtube so I need the .exe for fraps to record.
I have the same problem too. I start playing it for 3 to 5 minutes then out of no where screen goes black and i click on screen then it says Java (TM) se binary is not responding. I have reinstalled and installed ever possible thing and no fix :sad.gif:
Feel your pain man... Me and my brother enjoy minecrafting online, but alas, one of our computers, the one I am on now, is having the exact same problem, As soon as I get past the minecraft launcher (Where you login), instead of going to the menu, the screen turns black, and when attempts to close the window are made, the Java(TM) Platform SE Binary is not responding pops up, and my hopes are shattered like a ming vase. Im seriously considering contacting Java about this problem. I encourage you to do the same. Best of crafting luck mi amigo
Hi everyone, my first post.
Thanks to Angilis and Madjack for being so mature and constructive in starting and looking for solutions in this thread. And to everyone else who has posted a solution.
I am having the same problem, black screen after a few minutes then the SE binary is not responding message.
I am running Windows 7 64-bit on a AMD PhenomII X4 955 CPU, 8.0GB Ram and a Nvidia GeForce GTX 260.
I'll give the suggestions here a go and post results.
Alright,
I did a clean out of existing Java and reinstalled latest version. ( I had done this before but better to be thorough.)
Downloaded latest driver for Asus Xonar DX sound card and Nvidia driver from both companies direct and reinstalled.
Cleaned system registry.
Rebooted.
Played Minecraft and had same crash (Java(TM) Platform SE Binary is not responding) but this time with looping sound error as well.
Tried changing to Normal draw distance from Far and my 5 year old is playing as we speak with no problems.
I would have to agree with some posts that this seems to be a Java coding issue. I will continue to try some of the other solutions posted and report back.
I think for people who are really desperate to get their minecraft going try to re-install drivers or even re-do your whole computer. This will take about a day depending on how professional you are with computers.
This error has really become unbearable since the last patch. I bought the game 6 days ago and was loving it, but I did get this error about every 2-3 hours (yes, I have no job or life). Fortunately, my progress was saved when the error occurred and my char status. However, now it happens every hour, almost exactly on the hour. And my progress is not saved, only my lost inventory and char location (obviously a bummer).
I have tried all the suggestions in every post on this forum and others. I have it boiled down to a memory leak in javaw.exe. I tried running that program in XP compatibility mode, as admin (running Vista), and setting the priority to HIGH. I even turned off Pandora as one person suggested. It still crashes.
javaw.exe rises steadily in memory usage as the game runs, and when it hits about 1GB, the game fails. I have set a timer so that I know at 55 minutes to exit the game and restart. However, this isn't optimal.
Before you ask, yes, I have updated drivers and java and everything else that tech support always falls back on and never fixes the issue (I worked IT support for years). So, how do I limit the RAM that javaw.exe eats?
Operating System: Windows 7, 32-bit Processor: Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU - E5300 @ 2.60GHz Installed Memory (RAM): 4.00 GB Installed, 3.25 GB Usable Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT Nvidia Driver: 266.58 (up-to-date as of this post) Java Version: Version 6, Update 24 (up-to-date as of this post)
Render Distance: Far Difficulty: Hard
I'm having much the same problem as other folks here in that I can play for about an hour (if I'm lucky; it's happened in as little time as 20 minutes) and the memory used by Minecraft hits 1 GB at which point it locks up, I have to shut it down via the Task Manager and I get the "Java(TM) Platform SE Binary is not responding" pop-up. When this happens, both my coordinates in the X, Y and Z plane and my inventory are unchanged even though the world itself reverts back to the last save point which can be as much as an hour ago. I've rage-deleted some worlds because of this out of sheer frustration like a great big derpy faced goober.
XD
What I HAVEN'T had a problem with, however, is playing on an SMP server. Me an' some pals can play for hours without any major problems...when the site is up and running.
(>_<)
I know there likely isn't some easy fix just yet but I figured I'd toss that out if for no other reason than to hopefully help narrow down the underlying cause for the Powers That Be. I have a number of friends who don't have the slightest issue with the game whatsoever (I'm in a Skype call with someone playing it right now, even). My best bet until this is 'fixed' (however that comes about) seems to be locally hosting a private server which is...less than ideal, obviously.
EDIT-ADD: It should be noted that I, much like Goldenkrow, have not always had this issue; I've only been plagued with these 'crashes' since I think about the time of one of the 1.2 updates. I never had this issue that I can recall before that.
I believe it already has been solved. This worked for me:
