The option to save or load .mine files appears to do nothing, and before anyone asks, I am playing in single player, my Java is up-to-date, and I am running the latest version of Firefox under Windows 7 86 bit.
When I press the "Save File..." button...
... It shows a "Selecting File.." screen for a fraction of a second...
... And then, once again, displays the save menu.
Much the same happens when I try to load a file. I can get along fine without file saving and loading, but it would be nice to have. My apologies if this was already discussed elsewhere; I searched and came up with nothing.
On another note, if anyone is wondering why the screenshots display three different maps, it's because I was organizing my saves while I was taking the shots.

I pre-purchased Minecraft in July of 2009. One of the better purchases I've made in recent history.
Not seen this or heard of it before. My instant guess would be that it's a Windows 7 problem, unless you can use "Load file..."
That was my first thought also, however, the features worked before. Unfortunately, I won't be able to track what changes I may have made since they last worked, so I won't be of much use.
Also, I don't have any Firefox addons which would change any sort of permissions or the like.

Same problem on Vista here. For some bizarre reason the little pop-up load/save box... doesn't pop up. Making it impossible to load or save to or from a file. I'm worried Java might've updated and done something weird; the frightening amounts of CPU power it was using yesterday give me the sneaking suspicion that tomfoolery is afoot.
EDIT: I'm not sure if I should double-post to bump this, but I figured out the problem. I was running Firefox in compatibility mode for XP (in Vista,) specifically so that Quicktime would display properly. That made Java think I was running XP, and that confused the heck out of Minecraft. Switching compatibility off again allows me to load and save just fine. I am so awesome.
