Same error as the floating sand I reckon. It was naturally formed by the map therefore the game doesn't update it until a tile near it is updated and activates "update neighbours" if you delete one of the stone blocks on top of the lava they would all petrify.
Yes thats lava, under WATER. Not being turned into stone, and glitching itself.
