Avant is Based off of Internet Explorer, but is light on resources and actually looks nice.
Avant uses IE's core, hence all the bugs, lag, ActiveX, and other dumb stuff not related to the UI.

Anyway, if things get weird, I just find which java VM is the client, and kill it. After a day's worth of playing, I get wierd lag. Solution - kill java.

This problam may or may not be Java Related, check your Java Console.
Did you turn off your computer when you left? Maybe it's time to restart it?
Has anyone touched your computer? They may have and something may not be right anymore.
