Uff, im very gratefull you made this guide, I use Gamebooster already but I will definitely use the other tips you posted to spd up my minecraft a bit more :smile.gif:
Heres a diamond, you earned it.
Seeing as there are many computer professionals here, I must ask, which is the most important, RAM or a graphics card?
Graphics card is the most important factor for maintaining a higher framerate. However, if you are already low on RAM (ie: less than 2GB, such as 1GB or 512MB), then memory would improve overall system performance as well.

Listen to this man!
And so for those of you with integrated graphics on your laptops, I'm sorry to say there is not much hope for you...

open notepad type FreeMem=Space(128000000) save and click this will clean ram and help some only thing i can add to this thread
ps turn off windows aero and increase page file both helped me to increase my fps by about 10
i found something that can increase FPS but doesnt work for all. if you delete the achievements folder and the meta-inf folder (so mineraft wont freeze on login) it effects your FPS greatly. increased my FPS from 30-40 to 60-90 and also 2 other people if low FPS had this boost up there FPS by a ton.
Hey, all I'm saying is this: It's kind of idiotic to start out making claims about how I'm using terms interchangeably in a partitioning guide that I wrote while writing down everything that appeared on the screen while using Windows 7's Partition Manager.
lets just uh shrink this a bit more

Hi, i i got some fps problems, I installed new mc 1,4 and put on this 5 or 6 mods - mo creatures, weapons mod etc.
In first 30 min of play i got very nice fps like 50+, hour later, my fps was only 10!
I installed CAF mod and Optimine but nothing happen. I can't play on 5 fps... my graphic options: fast,far
when i use fancy and normal it's same.. 5 fps..
my comp:
graph nvidia gt9800
8gb ram
phenom quad 2,2
What should i do?
A 9800 should have no problem playing Minecraft. You mention you got 50+ FPS at one point then it dropped severely. First, reduce your viewing distance (do not use far). But more importantly, sounds like you have malware or something else running in the background that's slowing your PC to a crawl.
Yes, in single player too i get max 25fps... in multi 60..
//edit
ok, i now i know what was a problem --> version 1.4 it's shi*
on old versions 1.2etc fps was great.
A lot of people seem to be experiencing this problem. Moral of the story is, "make a backup before upgrading!". I upgraded on one machine before thinking about it, but know better now. If you experience a drop in frame rates after doing an upgrade, going back to the previous version would be a good first step. Just in case, I'll mention that backing up entails making a copy of your minecraft directory (%APPDATA%\.minecraft for windoze).

I've tried using Gamebooster and the CAF-Mod but neither of those worked (and my computer says it doesn't need to be defraged) :<
Is there anything else I could try? (upgrading isn't an option at the moment though...)
And I've heard that integregated graphics will make it lag, but.. I don't even know if I have it 8D
I just know I have WindowsXP on a PC with 1.96GB RAM :<

You have 2GB of RAM. As for your graphics, a DXDiag report would help identify it.[/quote]
When I run DXDiag, should it say "integrated graphics" somwhere if I have it? I did run it, but I have no clue if it should say that somewhere or not DX
And thanks for the help
My spec are E8400, 9800GT, 2GB Ram and i still have low fps problems on minecraft ... even due the options on the lowest possible ... some times i can play and there is normal fps(rare) and usually even when i just open the game and even on the splash sceen i have low fps !
its killing me because i cant play :< what should i do??
Hello, I'm getting around 6-10fps average on Minecraft with Fast resolution, Tiny render distance, Default texture pack, Limited frame rate on, Optimine, CAF, and Optifog. Here are my specs;
Dell XPS 14
Max Resolution : 1366x768
NVIDIA GeForce® GT420M 1024 MB
Intel® CoreTM i5 460M
2.53GHz
Windows 7
Any suggestions/help is greatly appreciated :smile.gif:
Can a newer version of Optimine be added? These are outdated. Inio has one for 1.4.01 that works very well.

Hey guys. I'm not sure if my problem is LAG or FPS or what.. but sometimes like when I'm fighting a skelly, it'll... change every 2 seconds or so? Yknow what I mean? Like I can't get away from the skell cause I'm not seeing what's happening as it's happening.

...and when you play single-player without the mods? You've just stated your own troubleshooting path.

Don't use the built-in defragger. Use a good 3rd party one that's free, such as MyDefrag or UltraDefrag.

EDIT: I downloaded GameBooster and [I think] worked it correctly and ran around for a bit. This is what I got: http://img690.imageshack.us/img690/1596/wtfdg.jpg
