First of all, thanks for your guide, the game is running pretty smoothly now.
Finally, I would like to ask a couple of questions, if anyone can answer them:
1. Would you say that the work done by Advanced SystemCare is the same as what TuneUp Utilities' "1-Click Maintenance" does?
2. Would you recommend TuneUp's 1-Click Maintenance?
Rhayader: I have a low post count, so I would understand if you or anyone else will ignore my suggestions. But for what it's worth, from someone that works with computers for a living, please don't bother with any sort of tune-up/cleaning/boosting utilities.
Try CCleaner from http://www.piriform.com/ if you must - sometimes it can help with applications not starting up or installing, and it's probably a good habit to clear temp files anyway.
That, is extremely annoying..
Trying to download Gamebooster.
I go to the website, I click the Free Download thing for it.
It loads another page, I click the download button again.
Then it takes me to a spanish site, that I translated, and it said the page doesn't exist :\
Any ideas? http://www.softonic.com/error404 - That's the page it sends me too.

I would like to take this opportunity to say that IObit has serious ethical issues with me. They should really take the time to at least acknowledge that they've STOLEN MalwareBytes technology.
I would never use a single IObit product, no matter how good it is.
this guide could be vital to my minecrafting :tongue.gif: my fujitsu laptop can only run at about 5 fps or less on tiny rander and fast graphics. but i was wandering...
when i go into my power options on my battery in the control panel i dont get those 3 options you listed instead i get a box letting me change the time its left unused before it turns the monitor off, or how long until it goes into standby, i can change all of these options but somehow i doubt they will affect the game, any ideas?
You can access power options via the Control Panel, and you should be able to set up a custom power plan from there.
That's all good and well, but using that in conjunction with those listed in this topic is better and for those really looking to squeeze every last drop of performance out of their computer, simply setting the task to a higher priority isn't really going to do much.
Okay, this all seems quite nice but rather complicated. If you're on a Windows PC, just do this, it's really simple and works:
1. Open up your game (works with basically any game or programm, for this tut I'll use minecraft.exe)
2. Right-click your task bar and open up your task manager.
3. Go to the "Processes" tab.
4. Right-click minecraft.exe (or any other programm you want to speed up.)
5. Go to "Set Priority".
6. Set the priority of your game's exe to "higher" or "high", "normal" is default.
7. Don't use "Real time", it will slow down or completely shut down any other applications running on your comp, including things like the explorer.exe.
8. Enjoy your faster running game!
Yeah, that works as well, but not everyone wants to constantly mess with the Priorities.
I'm sure there is some way to automatically do it. The only way *I* know of though, is through creating an application (EXE type) that launches another EXE with special privs like High priority etc.
For one, why do you add a 1second delay after each operation?
Why do you delete and recreate an already empty folder, unless you're using it as an excuse to test if the first operation failed to complete or not. Which you don't appear to be doing.
Temp can be reached via %temp% instead of using the full path which would reduce the line size considerably, work over ALL accounts (with privs) and across all Windows computers including older versions like XP.
Also your last step is redundant. It does NOTHING. You might as well close the program before that step as you're not checking to see if it failed or not, which would be the only excuse to have another "window".
Fog - far : 50 fps
Fog - normal : 100 fps
Fog - short : 200 fps
Fog - tiny : 300 fps
Is my computer fast?

Guess im a beast getting 392 FPS on fancy graphics single player with full screen mode enable. 843 FPS max on multiplayer :tongue.gif:. GTX 470 FTW

Because I wanted to. Don't like the coding? Sue me.
That's not how the legal system works. I was just pointing out there are lots of redundancies in the coding.
I'm on a 2.7ghz 64 bit win 7 machine with 4 GB ram and internal Nvidia graphics card, and I get a dismal 8-15 FPS and major choppyness with far view distance and fast graphics. I know my internal graphics chip is lame, but it shouldn't be anywhere near this bad, Team Fortress 2 plays at 60fps. Is minecraft/java not suited well for 64 bit or dual core machines? I have the 64 bit java installed, would I be better off using the 32 bit? From other people's specs it doesn't sound like I should be getting quite this low of performance.
Thanks
Edit: Forgot to mention, I just mean in the alpha.
Edit2: Turning the frame limit ON increased my frame rate a bit, but not quite to pleasant levels. Seems odd that would increase framerate ever though.
Very helpful. My laptop was beginning to struggle to run it, even on minimum quality. This helped a lot! Now i can smash creepers without lagging all over the place :smile.gif:
By the way, fixing registry errors is going to get you exactly zero gain in performance, and clearing out your temp folder, while probably a good idea once in a while, is also going to net you absolutely no performance gain.
Glary Utilities is a free-ware program that includes a temporary file cleaner, startup scanner, spyware scanner and registry fixer. Along with some other functions.

You just need a graphics card/chip that supports OpenGL. Almost every graphics card/chip manufactured after 2005 should support MineCraft easily. OpenGL was developed in the 90's I think.
I get these stats on an Intel Pentium 4 2.8 GHz (NOT EVEN DUAL CORE >D):
Far, fancy - 60-70FPS (jumps around between those two)
Far, normal - 100-120 (^)
Far, small - 180-230 (jumps around, minor lag spikes here and there)
Far, tiny - around 280 FPS.
Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT 512MB video card.
I have pretty descent FPS for an oldish processor.

For example, forcing V-Sync, Anti-Aliasing and Anisotropic filtering OFF, turning triple buffering ON and other such minor tweaks.
