Yeah just checked that wiki page and it seems they left that bit out... (Well they left a lot out.) It's not your fault at all, more often than not the wiki isn't very explanatory. But hey, that's why you came here right?
Sorry if I went too basic on you with some of the other replies. Sometimes it's hard to figure out what the problem/question/statement is from just a few lines of text. I've found it's best just to blanket everything.
No problem, happy to help, and glad you got everything working.
ok so i got it to say my language name but it doesn't change anything even though i have some things changed?
True. Every single item and block can be translated. I even found new strings that weren't available in the English US language file. These are used for the stats screen when blocks or items are mixed in groups. I don't know if it has been known before, but so far, I think I'm the only one where the resource pack makes use of these.
How did you find them?
And gimme the strings or I’ll eat your parents’ brains out.

I figured them out through the Statistics screen since it's only on that screen you can see there's something wrong. Basically, all the items or blocks that are stored as "groups" have some kind of "group item" or "group block" that regroup the sub-items or sub-blocks together for the statistics screen and for the "Can destroy" dataTag. Those in green are already there in the language file and those in red are missing and can only be added through a resource pack.
Due to a strange bug, the way it works in Minecraft 1.8 and above has changed. In the statistics screen, instead of taking the group name, it will take the default block name representing the group. So, for example, if you use or destroy any kind of wooden planks, instead of having "Wooden Planks", it will be "Oak Wood Planks". This doesn't occur with the "CanDestroy" item dataTag.
For blocks
tile.stone.name (This is for normal stone, granite, diorite and andesite with their polished version.)
tile.dirt.name=Dirt (This is for normal dirt, coarse dirt and podzol.)
tile.wood.name=Wooden Planks (This is for all kinds of wooden planks.)
tile.sapling.name (This is for all kinds of tree saplings.)
tile.sand.name=Sand (This is for sand and red sand.)
tile.sandStone.name=Sandstone (This is for default sandstone, chiseled sandstone and smooth sandstone.)
tile.redSandStone.name=Red Sandstone (Same as above, but red.)
tile.log.name=Wood (This is for all kinds of wood logs.)
tile.leaves.name=Leaves (This is for all kinds of tree leaves.)
tile.tallgrass.name=Grass (This is for one block tall plants: shrubs, grass (the herbs, not the block) and ferns.)
tile.sponge.name (This is for the sponge and wet sponge.)
tile.stainedGlass.name=Stained Glass (This is for all coloured stained glass.)
tile.thinStainedGlass.name=Stained Glass Pane (This is for all coloured stained glass panes.)
tile.flower1.name=Flower (This only applies for the dandelions.)
tile.flower2.name=Flower (This is for all one-block-tall flowers but dandelions. Mojang decided to use the "rose" category to include all one-block-tall other flowers, which is odd. This could be classified as a bug.)
tile.doublePlant.name=Plant (This is for two blocks tall plants: sunflowers, lilacs, tall grass, tall ferns, rose bushes and peonies.)
tile.stoneSlab.name=Stone Slab (This is for all kinds of stone-like slabs: stone, sandstone (not red), cobblestone, bricks, stone bricks, nether bricks and quartz. There's also "tile.stoneSlab.wood.name" for the old wooden slab, but it is unused today.)
tile.stoneSlab2.name (This is for the red sandstone slab. Since the stoneSlab category above is full, a new set of slabs has to be created.)
tile.woodSlab.name=Wood Slab (This is for all kinds of wooden planks slabs.)
tile.woolCarpet.name=Carpet (This is for all coloured carpets.)
tile.clayHardenedStained.name=Stained Clay (This is for all stained hardened clay.)
tile.cloth.name=Wool (This is for all coloured wool.)
tile.stonebricksmooth.name=Stone Bricks (This is for all kinds of stone bricks: default, mossy, cracked and chiseled.)
tile.monsterStoneEgg.name=Stone Monster Egg (This is for all kinds of silverfish infested stones: stone, cobblestone, stone bricks (all).)
tile.anvil.name=Anvil (This is for all anvil states: intact, slightly damaged and very damaged.)
tile.cobbleWall.name (This is for the cobblestone walls and mossy cobblestone walls.)
tile.quartzBlock.name=Block of Quartz (This is for all kinds of quartz blocks: default, chiseled and pillar.)
tile.prismarine.name (This is for the prismarine blocks: default, bricks and dark.)
For items
item.fish.name (This is for all kind of fishes and cooked fishes.)
item.dyePowder.name (This is for all coloured dyes.)
item.skull.name (This is for both skulls and heads.)
item.splash_potion.name (This is for splash potions. Added in v1.11)
item.lingering_potion.name (This is for lingering potions. Added in v1.11)
Missing names
Besides the missing group names, here are some block names missing when used along with the CanDestroy dataTag. They can only be added using a resource pack:
For blocks
tile.air.name - Air block (added in v1.11)
tile.diode.name - Redstone repeater
tile.comparator.name - Redstone comparator
tile.brewingStand.name - Brewing Stand
tile.flowerPot.name - Flower Pot
tile.skull.name - Head or skull
tile.banner.name - Banner
tile.doorOak.name - Oak Wood Door
tile.doorSpruce.name - Spruce Wood Door
tile.doorBirch.name - Birch Wood Door
tile.doorJungle.name - Jungle Wood Door
tile.doorAcacia.name - Acacia Wood Door
tile.doorDarkOak.name - Dark Oak Wood Door
tile.null.name - Technical block (used for piston head, block moved by piston and end portal)
There's also some missing item names and entity names that are used along with some commands that affect entities, such as /tp. The missing item names represent EVERY single item entity as seen when they are dropped. Again, they can only be added using a resource pack:
For items
Every item and block have a specific name when dropped as an item. The syntax is as follow for each of them:
item.[item/block string without .name]
Here are two examples:
item.tile.pumpkin=Stack of pumpkins
item.item.stick=Stack of sticks
For entities
entity.AreaEffectCloud.name - Area of Effect Cloud
entity.EnderCrystal.name - Ender Crystal
entity.EyeOfEnderSignal.name - Thrown Eye of Ender
EDIT: Nevermind, got it working. easy fix.
And gimme the strings or I’ll eat your parents’ brains out.
