Everyone claims that it doesn't matter where the hardware is, but it does, so don't try to talk me into the idea that Dallas is a great place. I'm sure it is, but I don't want our hardware that far west.
2. 8GB RAM, 40 slots. RAM does not seem to be our limiting factor.
3. SSD drive.
4. DDoS protection, MySQL available, dedicated ip address.
5. MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL: RELIABLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. This means trouble tickets answered with in a few hours at most, 24/7. Our current host used to rise to this standard, but the business has changed hands and they no longer pay attention. Also we're having major lag.

A lot of those options it's talking about can be done with the modified version of Craftbukkit called Spigot, Spigot was aimed at server performance. It does various things from helping chunks unload properly, memory leaks, grouping entity drops for less overall entity's, tiles that may be kept loaded. Although it may have a lot of helpful features, there is still a lot of things it does not cover which some plugins may or may not such as ClearLagg. ClearLagg is a helpful and useful plugin to clear entity, tiles to your customization along with limiting them so nothing goes overboard and lags the server. The Chunk Load radius is the view-distance, say you have the view-distance set at 8, all the chunks within an 8x8 radius will be loaded around the player. (This is for every player, say you have a 100 players with all of them far from each other, that'll be a lot of chunks loaded). As for the Sugar Cane / Massive Farming structures, that's what the grouping items together feature in Spigot helps optimize. Although, overall if you need help on reducing lag if you were to get lag, we can always help you.
