I was hoping to host a 9 player slot server with my internet speed. it is 14.0MBs download and 0.85mb upload (sucks, I know)
Well, I put it into CanIhostaminecraftserver.com along with 2gb of RAM and it said I could host a maximum of 3 players. Is this accurate? I was hoping to have a few more than 3 on the server, and I can't buy hosting. Is this site accurate?
Yep, I believe that site is right. Hosting a minecraft server on your computer is not the best of ideas. I recommend using a professional such as ourselves to help you host your server. Feel free to ask any questions on our livechat system at https://datalorry.com.
But for things like Minigames, Factions, etc, the servers can really vary in requirements. For example, my server which runs in a closed environment doesn't need much memory, but because we're aiming towards having many players and lots of calculations, our CPU needs to be very fast.
Network generally, 96KB/s per person I find is more than enough, but most need 32KB/s. Generally speaking, 10 players, 512KB/s-1MB/s upload is very sufficient, and can grow.
Well, I guess that means I won't be hosting a home server. how much would a server with 15 player slots and the plugin Multiverse and Essentials cost? (it would have 5 players for each world).
You would want 2GB for this. We can offer you a 2GB server for €8/month (just under $9). We can also offer you a recurring discount, just PM us!
