I am thinking about getting a vps to host modded minecraft (ftb, direwolf20, etc) and I am wondering if anyone has expierince using a vps. how much ram, cpu, storage would you recommend for a small server (1-6 max.)?
For a few players, I'd say 2-4GB of RAM. Any E3 or E5 CPU should be fine for modded Minecraft as well. On top of that, I'd recommend 20+ GB of storage, preferably SSD over HDD.
Though, overall, I don't think using a VPS is entirely smart as the resources generally aren't dedicated nor are the CPUs. Another issue is that sometimes the servers have bottlenecks which lead to lower performance quality.

[p]It would be ok if it was for a few players but if you plan on having a big group of people on the server your best bet is to get a dedicated server.[/p]
[p]You would need something like [/p]
[*]CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1230v2
[*]RAM: 16GB DDR3 1333MHz
[*]Network: 10TB @ 1Gbps
[*]Storage: 120GB SSD
[/list]
[p]I would only use a VPS to have the multi craft server installed on that is really about it,In the long run be cheaper to have dedicated server VPS can be quite pricey [/p]
