The OP of this thread got screwed up after I tried to save, like all the formatting stuff got screwed up, not exactly sure what happened. So pretty much everything that was in this thread is gone. I may re-write it when I have time, but right now I don't, unless there is a way to revert it.
Until then, I recommend discussing 1.8 in this thread as some attempt to stop 3 threads being made everytime something is announced.
There's really no reason not to have things like doors be stackable. Them being unstackable did not make the game any more difficult, it just made it a hassle carrying several doors. Difficulty comes from challenges, not annoyance. I'm happy with this.
Now please get back to fixing the rendering, Mojang.
But anyway, game balance is something that you implement so that the game isn't too difficult or too easy, it's "balanced".
Example: Potions are not stackable because if they were you could rapid fire damage potions and kill someone very quickly with little effort. They stop potions from being stackable to balance the game. In this case, doors not being stackable doesn't make the game easier or harder, it just makes doors a pain to place in large quantities.
