Mostly unrelated, but can I please get a source for that? Not saying I don't believe you, but I don't think I've ever seen official word on that and I don't want to get my hopes up prematurely.
Then by your logic the enchantment Thorns that was added (obviously designed for PvP) shouldn't have been added since not everyone PvPs.
Seriously, let the devs do what they want. I mean, if I was a game dev it would be way cooler and more fun to add new features than fix bugs. And people ALWAYS like new features. Plus, EVERY update has some bug fixes. If you ever look at the bug fix list, it's a decent bit long. Now admittedly, I have never come across the bugs listed in them most of the time, however they were usually game-crashing bugs.
Also, the are adding more reason to go to the Nether too. Many people have wanted that.
Also, people should stop complaining about the modding API. It takes a while. They are also rewriting the rendering engine and lighting engine I believe. Those 2 big changes are setting back the API probably. The rewrites also probably improve performance.
My point is, people shouldn't be complaining about the devs doing a bad job. Have you ever tried making a game as big or as complicated as Minecraft?

This is a signature. There should be something here....
Oh wait! There is!
A lot of people uses redstone. For minigames, for your survival world, for servers... For every thing (including me). I think too that this update would'n be all dedicated to the redstone. But Jeb said that they were going to fix the light bug that appears when chunks are newly loaded and when you place slabs all over the place, that's because they're creating a new awesome engine that will automatically extinguish that bug. Hopefully there will be some vanilla bug fixes like mobs "swimming" onto ground. And of course we should see at least 20 or more new blocks added.
I am only using basic redstone, but with the daylight sensors, I'll have a way to light up my courtyard at nighttime only!
OP, everyone uses Redstone, except for a smal majority of... I'm not even going to say it.
@Kholdstare
What is the problem with terrain? It generates intended terrain types in the way they are supposed to 95% of the time, so therefore it is a working terrain generator, this is Minecraft, not Pretty Terrain Generator 2012. Also, unplayable because of the terrain, what does that mean? Did the people you mention get encased in bedrock at spawn? No? Then the game was still playable.
I won't be using Redstone too much, and I probably won't be playing many works that use it.
IMO while a redstone-focused update is a good idea there are more pressing issues to work on, like the terrain. You can still make awesome redstone contraptions with what we have now, but it doesn't matter if there are people who find the game unplayable due to the terrain.
Dude. Stop. Every thread you say the same thing. I completely agree that terrain needs work but you are flat out wrong. Redstone was a VERY pressing issue because it was so easy to cause MASSIVE lag on servers. Terrain does not harm the game in any way but make you less interested in exploring.
Redstone and the rendering engine are more important than your hopes and dreams.

Don't play vanilla? You don't know **** about minecraft.

QFT man. I understand terrain is something quite a few people want worked on, but Mojang has already said those guys will get their terrain update at some point in the future. An entire update. Until then, nothing you say will help in the slightest. In fact, the more the terrain dreamers complain about it, especially off-topic like kholdstare did here, the longer those people will have to wait. Even Dinnerbone has said that.

I've seen that most of your posts here are off topic complaints about terrain. And I have something to say...
SHUT THE NETHER UP!!!
Your useless ravings about terrain does not make anyone care any more than they did before. In fact, they make many people dislike the idea of a terrain update even more. You would do a better job of helping your cause by remaining silent.
SHUT THE NETHER UP!!!
On topic: OP, you are entirely wrong. Most people use redstone at least once in their "life".
Ummm i'd say that about 50% of the minecrafters use redstone. And this update adds much more than redstone things that only experts can use. its not hard to figure out a daylight sensor and and Hopper has no redstone involved.
I'd go out on a limb and say that at least 80% of Minecrafters have tried using Redstone. I guarantee that you will use something from this update soon.
SO you don't like the updates hmmmmm? Well, a LOT of other people do, and a LOT of people aren't so ignorant that they immediately jump to the conclusion that nobody uses redstone. Actually think about what you post next time. If people never use it, it wouldn't be in the game.
What the heck was I thinking...? While it might not be useful to everyone, it is still useful to a large portion of the community. I do still think that the terrain should take priority over this, but I suppose that this is good as well.

Did something happen to you in your childhood to give you this unreasonable fear of rutabaga?
Watch this video. It's somewhere in there.

Hey, can't beat them, just join them.
Less mods needed.
On the plus side, this stuff can be used for SSP and SMP.
i actually want new terrain. Its just that Kholdstares ranting on it in every topic does more harm than good.
