So I see that update 1.5 will be dedicated to Redstone. I think this is ridiculous! How many people really use Redstone? I think this update may cover about 5% of the population of minecraft. I mean how many people are really going to know how to use all this new stuff added to Redstone!?! I would much rather see an update dedicated to client-side improvements and stuff like the modding API. I can't even play the game without performance-enhancing modifications to the game. And now they want to add some ridiculous Redstone stuff!? I am sick of them adding features to the game and not concentrating on fixing the current game. I think these developers have some thinking to do. What were they thinking to dedicate an entire update to Redstone? I am really starting to lose faith in the game and I think that the developers are doing a trashy job of maintaining the game! Sorry if I am ranting but I'm really ed off. What are your thoughts? This entire paragraph was done with Dragon dictation by the way.
They are actually fixing the current game. They are fixing most if not all redstone related bugs, while adding new stuff to make redstone better/easier to use.
Potions involve redstone. Right? Right? Will the missing potions ever be implemented? How hard could it be? The affects are already there? They added two in the beginning of 1.4! Why not add the rest?
I think that the redstone update is needed. You can only go so far without using it and once you do the possibilities are endless and your creations really come alive. This will only go to further improve the longevity of the game IMO.
Wow... just wow...
Many people use redstone! Look up on Youtube "redstone", you'll see thousands of videos dedicated to redstone. Guess what a lot of those custom maps you play use, REDSTONE!
I see you would rather an API also, but with your logic, you should be saying MOJANG WHY ARE YOU ADDING AN API NO ONE USES MODS!!!
1.5 consists of redstone updating and bug fixing, Minecart updates, including new physics and blocks, and, dont count on it, API updating and internal techy stuff. Heck, 1.5, maybe, will have Optifine.
So I see that update 1.5 will be dedicated to Redstone.
This is not accurate. It's called the redstone update, but the improvements, while generally focussed around redstone changes, will likely cover many other facets of the game as well. A good example being the introduction of the new rendering engine.
How many people really use Redstone? I think this update may cover about 5% of the population of minecraft.
There are really only two kinds of Minecraft players. Those who use redstone, and those who don't use redstone yet. That aside, I'd say your statistic is backwards; the people that don't use anything redstone related are a minority.
I mean how many people are really going to know how to use all this new stuff added to Redstone!?!
Lots.
I would much rather see an update dedicated to client-side improvements and stuff like the modding API.
Though I'm not 100% about the latter, client-side improvements are one of the things they have been working on for the new update. The "redstone update" name more or less comes from what feature changes will be introduced.
I can't even play the game without performance-enhancing modifications to the game. And now they want to add some ridiculous Redstone stuff!?
These statements are not really connected. You might not even be able to run the new update, since they're finally moving to a version of OpenGL that wasn't dated ten years ago.
I am sick of them adding features to the game and not concentrating on fixing the current game.
Both have been done since the beginning. I don't think there has been a single update that added features but did not fix some existing issues.
What were they thinking to dedicate an entire update to Redstone?
They were likely listening to the Minecraft community. One of the many things requested for Minecraft involve redstone or redstone-based items. There are several popular modifications that move in that direction, but Minecraft having a few basic variants of similar functionality would be very useful to the majority of Minecraft players.
I am really starting to lose faith in the game and I think that the developers are doing a trashy job of maintaining the game! Sorry if I am ranting but I'm really ed off. What are your thoughts? This entire paragraph was done with Dragon dictation by the way.
My thoughts are that you have no idea what you are talking about.
They're fixing A LOT of things apart from redstone. You may wanna be more informed before posting something... Also, i'll say the 75% -ish of players uses redstone in one way or another

Ask yourself this, When was the last time a new Redstone block/Update came out. Many Minecraft youtubers use Redstone (eg: Etho,SethBling,FVdisco etc). Not only that but there is a area to post Redstone ideas and Creations in the forums.
That hurts my feelings. ;-; Also, your signature link is broken. Kinda makes me sad too since I recognize that link and used it to troll my friends many a time. Ah, good memories.
The Redstone Update is going to be amazing even for the people not that adept at redstone. Here's a few perks you might find appealing:
- Redoing several engines: Lighting, rendering,
- HD texture pack support
- A fix for the phantom skylight bug that's been plaguing maps since 1.1
- New minecart systems, similar to Railcraft, and more uses for Storage minecarts
- Potentially, a BUD switch (Tl;dr redstone signal upon a block update.)
- At least one new ore
- Daylight Detector
- ALLOCATORS
- And much, much more
You don't need to be a hardcore redstoner to appreciate the update, nor is redstone stuff the only thing in the update. And you know Mojang, they never announce everything they're adding beforehand. So what's been announced so far is probably only a taster of what's in 1.5. Live a little and go with the flow :3
I think it would be amazing to dedicate it to redstone. Many people use redstone for contraptions that can make life easier. Mojang always fixes bugs in every update, and adding new features is what most people look forward to.

They need to fix the sound engine, whenever you leave or approach a continuous sound source, Minecraft has a huge heart attack.
Just because it's called the Redstone Update doesn't mean it's going to be exclusively Redstone devices and changes.
Praise be to Spode.

I remember them saying its supposed to be its own update near the 1.5 release.
Your Argument is Invalid.
