1. You can now create heads of any Minecraft player (not just steve, zombie, skeleton, creeper and whither skeleton). A side "feature" is the ability to place said heads in mine cart chests.
2. Jeb_ has added Notch's head to the creative menu. A side "feature" is the ability to place Notch's head in a mine cart chest.
Yep. I'm not updating anymore, this just proves how far off track Mojang has gone.
Player heads have been in the game since the introduction of the command block. You can see below in my screenshot, I've stuck some Mojang dev heads on a pike. As well as my own (second from the right). Though, you can do it with any player.
This feature is accessible only via third party program edits (MCEdit/NBT). And the same goes for Jeb's screenshot, which edits the block inside the minecart through third party edits. (Which can also be accessed with MCEdit/NBTEdit).

It, in no way, affects anyone who favors a traditional Minecraft experience, since you will never actually be able to see or access them without use of third-party edits. Or, in some cases, creative. There is no reason to complain. If you're in creative, then why *wouldn't* you want a wider range of blocks anyway? And secondly, "hidden" features such as these are very useful and very much desired by map makers like myself. This kind of stuff is how my portion of the fanbase enjoy Minecraft.
It's quite selfish and short-sighted to look at only what *you* want, especially when it affects the experiences of more traditional players in no significant way whatsoever.

Didn't you already "pack your things and leave" so-to-speak? You said good bye a few days ago. Besides, it has plenty of use. You can probably hook it to a timer and scare people - notice the redstone? I don't know - I may never use it, but I laugh when I see it. And I laugh when people say something small like this shows how "off track" someone is. OHMYGOSH it's one little thing. It's not like a stick and you'd use it frequently. I respect your opinion though, and it seems useless until it's put in and given a description I guess.
Could be another Red Herring though...

Dinnerbone has already said that this was just a bit of fun:
He should know better than that. It's well known that people around here FREAK THE HELL OUT whenever something they consider "stupid" appears, because it clearly heralds the End Days of Minecraft.
I still remember the cosmic derpage that occurred when Notch introduced the Mooshroom. Mojang should know by now that simple fun isnt allowed here!

Protip: Storage minecarts were added in Alpha.
If this is off track, they were off track in Alpha. If you don't like it, I suppose you could go play Classic. There's actually a few classic server left.
Or you could, I don't know, do what smart people do and not use features you don't like.

Don't hate on classic, some of the servers are fun.

Oh, I'm not. I played Classic before I bought Alpha. The point is that if you don't like storage minecarts, you'd have little choice but to play Classic since they were added so long ago.

1. You can already create other player heads
2. that would be badass
3. lol
Shows how stupid people can be. (The two who quit, not Jeb)

You people see that the chest is IN minecart and it opens? In newest snapshot it's only "in-opening" (not animation).
I guess nvm... but it looks really nice and i would like to have it.
I know what you mean. If Mojang adds anything mildly stupid to their video game, I may go on a killing rampage.
I wanted to be one of the cool kids.
Wiki classifies it as removed.
It was never intended to be used, really. Never work with unofficial stuff you are afraid to lose.

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.
Stupid 3D..

Maybe, if you put an item inside, it will show what's inside when u open it.
