I think that the Witch hut design should be fairly simple. Dinnerbone has the right idea, but they do need to be changed a bit. A door and a way for the Witch to actually get up and down would be a good start.
Also, since Witches are testificates, they should be able to open wooden doors and recognise the hut as a house, so that it doesn't just wander off.
They should also be far more common than they are now. I was searching for witch huts in creative mode for over an hour and never found one. I'm not saying it should be super easy to find, but you should be able to find at least one per 2 swamps in default size biomes.
Also, maybe a different style witch hut in forest or taiga biomes?
Ok, I'm not trying to be a hater here, I'm just sharing an opinion. I don't mean any offence by this.
Not to kick a dead horse, but it has come to my attention that out of all of these very well thought out posts, one of the few that you responded to is the one that insulted your intelligence, and you responded in a somewhat butt-hurt fashion. Also, as you stated you would "take the time to respond to these things", which I don't really believe as you have a little over 2k posts, so you obviously have SOME free time. Saying this just came off as a bit pretentious to me, sorry. This is just my two cents however, and is mostly irrelevant to this thread. Now, back to the topic at hand:
1: As many other people have said, this IS NOT A FINISHED PRODUCT. What this means, is that this is not the final design and will probably change with the next snapshot/update.
2: Refer to #1. Not to mention the fact that being a hut and not a cottage, it would tend to be made more of wood, with less stone.
3: Yet again, refer to #1. As I believe Rufus said, this is a test to see how players react to the huts, loot will probably be added later.
4: A good point, and yet it was probably nothing more than a simple mistake that was overlooked. It's not like Mojang was like "LOL OH WELLZ THEY WONT NOTICE".
5: As another user posted, witches don't exactly live the high life. They were outcasts, rejected by society. Why you should care about this? Because this IS much more realistic, and I don't want to hear the "Minecraft isn't realistic" line. However, I would like to see a slightly taller inside, maybe sink the floor down one, and lower the roof as well but use half blocks instead of full blocks.
6: #1. This is again something that was either overlooked, or a simple bug in generation. On that note, while generating a 5x5 house may seem easy, think of this: There is quite a bit of code that goes into even something as simple as MC, not to mention the fact that after looking at line after line of code, sometimes you slip up, as with any type of repetitive work.
7: This would be overpowered, as many have said. Potions could work, up to a point.
8: Cats would be nice, and as you said, they may be added so I see no reason to even mention this.
Now that I am done, let this be known: I am not trying to hate on you, I appreciate that you shared your opinion, the exectuion just seems....off, I suppose. (For example, your title could've been more..understanding, shall we say? Not to mention that this is the discussion section, which in my opinion means there should be some sort of question or poll in this.)
Thank you all for reading my rant, I do hope OP doesn't take offence to this.

On a different note, I kinda like the look of the hut you made, though I believe it should be shorter. Maybe make the roof out of half blocks? As I stated in the above rant-post, I think stone would be a bit much, but possibly a one block tall stone base would be ok?
Edit: Maybe base it off of the villager hut, but 2 blocks larger all around, and with dark wood?
I think i like the current dark-wood design, and I personally don't like cobblestone floors, it just doesn't seem like a "floor" building material, and the lighter wood looks out of place. just my opinion though
I was really awaiting the addition of Witch Huts the past 2 weeks. And I can safely say now, with the current design, I am very dissapointed. Just look inside them.
That's it? I was expecting them to be, you know, slightly creepy? They just look like normal houses now. I'll try to organize my thoughts with bullet points.
They don't look creepy at all.
They are made entirely of wood. No variety.
There is no loot inside them at all. Why kill the Witch?
Witches are 3 blocks high counting their hats. Huts are only 2 blocks high...
They are frankly not big enough. If I was a witch, I would want something a little bigger...
As you can see, the crafting table and Cauldrons are floating off the floor.
Witches use potions to fight you, yet no Brewing Stands in them?
I was also kind of hoping maybe they would have cats in them, but nope. (I know, might be added later).
Witch Huts need a lot of change in the next update. They are horrible right now.
It's called a "work in progress" for a reason.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Thought there was going to be something interesting in here did you? no? well uh this is awkward
Whatever you do, DON'T press the little green button in the corner of my post.
Obviously. Honestly you're so opinionated and obtuse that honest criticism of your opinion is basically ignored as if you can't bear to acknowledge it. I like how you at least offer opinions and work toward offering a solution you like, but try and be a little less rudely critical of things you don't like. The devs are human beings with feelings that have worked to create what we're sometimes so rudely rejecting on this forum. Lets try to be more constructively critical and at least work with and understand their vision instead of rejecting it out right.
Your design looks fine. Simple, keeps the stilts. Not sure why everyone is hung up on a round house though. I guess it's due to the word 'HUT' that's being used.

I may be wrong, but I guess one must write down every single block id that is used and it's exact relative coordinate according to a "cornerstone" block that must be placed in set biome (in this case, swamps).
Probably why the huts as simple... they didn't want to make a code excessively complex.
I believe the Jungle Temple is the most complex coded building we have in the game, followed by Desert Pyramids and Village Libraries.
1. Brewing stands need you to go to the nether, your not getting a freebie for killing a witch, the witches brew with cauldrons, not brewing stands, they are more old fashioned i guess you could say (hoping that we can store potions in a cauldron and take 3 bottles out to empty it)
2. yes the huts should be taller and have a loot chest
3. They should also have random mob heads around them, as another way to acquire them
Also, since Witches are testificates, they should be able to open wooden doors and recognise the hut as a house, so that it doesn't just wander off.

Not sure. Maybe using jungle wood instead of oak? Or maybe even Nether brick? (Nether brick would make sense.)
...but that's just like, my opinion, man.

Mine was pretty much ignored.

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.
Stupid 3D..
What are you saying?
