I noticed that bats tend to fly around between 1-20 blocks in the air. However bats aren't really ground loving creatures. Does anyone else think that bats are a tad too low? Perhaps they should never go lower than 2 - 3 blocks when out in the open. And possibly fly higher as well.
I don't think minimum height should be changed, just how long they stay close to the ground. IMO, It would give them a nice "swooping" effect as if they were catching insects.
Having seen many bats flying around irl, I can't say I've ever seen one flying above 10-20 feet above the ground, and usually lower.
Bat's don't fly around very high. They fly to hunt and they hunt flying insects and flying insects fly low to hunt their food, usually pollen, ground-dwelling insects, or other low-flying insects.
Having bats fly up to 60 feet in the air is a bit of a stretch, if you ask me.

A lot of the bats on my maps are flying on ground level. I don't care if they are flying fairly low, but ground level when they don't avoid lava is kind of bad
Well I guess not so much fly higher, but at least refrain from going so low all the time. Flying one block above ground is just stupid, diving down mementarily: yes; chillin at ground level?: no.
Several bats flew into my netherrack fire pit. They need an AI upgrade.

My avatar is a two tailed fox named Miles "Tails" Prower. He may only be 8 years old,but he is a highly skilled engineer. He stands 2'7" tall, and can use his tails to fly short distances, and run at near supersonic speeds.
Thoughts?

Ohh... You mean, too low. Sorry, couldn't resist.
I don't really see a problem with them flying too low. They kind of need to in caves and such where they will be spawning.
The problem with them flying too low is them flying right into lava on the ground

Maybe it depends on the species.
I'd prefer them going up until 10 blocks.
That would be horrible!

+ Added bats. At least we think we did.
