1.9 Should Be Smaller, So When 2.0 Comes Out, It Will Be A HUGE Update.
We don't really know if Mojang will release 2.0.

Minecraft is not medieval-themed!!! As a matter of fact, it doesn't have a set time. And when and WHY did putting reponses in the quote, especially long ones, become a trend in the Suggestions? It's rather inconvenient, mainly since the OP has to gather your quote up manually. Avatar made by Endergirl!
It should be a bit smaller than 1.8, that way we can obtain the full release sooner, and then they can start 1.10 (Or 2.0, whatever they decide to do). They should also put more focus on a certain thing and some other smaller features. Kinda like 1.7 or 1.6 and so. 1.8 was rather all over the place (Still Awesome nonetheless) so 1.9 should be a bit smaller and more focused. Basically my thoughts.

personally... I think that 1.8 wasn't that huge in tern of survival
I was playing hardcore 2 months ago (and no win yet )and I ALLways look for updates in the official minecraft wiki
the only thing I think what is usfull in 1.8 is
Ocean Monuments
Guardians/Elder Guardians
That's it that why I stick to 1.7 especially 1.7.10 Because of mods and survival needs and the miserable lag in 1.8 (seriousely i still lags in a 4 cored I5 CPU and a 710M NIVIDA GPU ,why ?)
By the way 1.9 is said in the Minecraft Wiki as The Far Future Update so it looks like there 's maybe some high-tech blocks and ect.....

1.Old Intel CPU (2nd Gen and older) and these aren't ready for Windows 10.Please downgrade to an older version
2-Slow/Intel GPU (But sometimes Intel GPU just work fine from 3rd Gen CPU or newer on Win10)
3-Update Drivers (recommended for Dedicated GPU but not always for Intel's)

I would like a 1.9 update where Mojang doesn't make that much new stuffs, but fix everything instead (while still adding some stuffs so that it's interesting...)!

Ehh, that sounds a bit far fetched. Are we sure that isn't just a nickname now considering it kinda feels like 1.9 is gonna release in the "far future"? 1.8 definitely had us think that. *cough* supposed to release in April 2014 *cough*

I hope there is no 1.9 so minecraft will finally be open source.
I read on Twitter that Notch is refusing to have Minecraft be an Open Source game on Windows 8. I have Windows 7.

I didn't understand what does ''fetched'' means but the idea of the far future update nickname isn't that bad actually

Mojang said the game would only be open source "Once sales start dying..."
But because of Notch's stepping down and Mojang being bought by Microsoft, there is really no chance of the game being open source.
In particular, Notch said the game would be open source, and that was there for a while. When Jeb took over, that little tidbit vaporized, and now that Microsoft owns the game, chances are Minecraft will never be open source.
One can hope, though, one can hope...

I'm on the CSM team, but I've retired from Minecraft modding for the most part. I made Cliffie's Goos.
I'm an old-timer, been around since Alpha. MC: Windows 10 edition is like the uncanny valley, almost modern Minecraft but off in every way.
I have an XBox tag, but only because I needed one to try the Windows 10 version. I don't have an XBox.
1.9 shouldn't be a really big update, I mean they should save the really really big update for 1.10, because it'll be a huge milestone for Minecraft. So, I'm not really expecting much, but I hope 1.10 will be AMAZING, if it does make it to that (which it probably will)
Of Course; We Will Never Really Know Untill It Is About To Come Out, But If Mojang Are Planning For A 2.0 As Well, 1.9 Should Be Smaller.
I'm not sure how many times this has to be said, but I guess it's my turn:
Version 1.10 will come after version 1.9.
1.8 is not "one and eight tenths"; it's "major version 1, minor version 8." Likewise, 1.9 will not be "one and nine tenths"; it will be "major version 1, minor version 9". There is no reason to believe they're going to change major versions, so after 1.9 we'll get "major version 1, minor version 10" which will be written as 1.10. And then 1.11, 1.12, and so on.

I do not think the game ever will be open source
But because of Notch's stepping down and Mojang being bought by Microsoft, there is really no chance of the game being open source.
Notch doesn't have any say in Minecraft anymore, he sold out the company to Microsoft, so whatever he says about Minecraft can be ignored.
In particular, Notch said the game would be open source, and that was there for a while. When Jeb took over, that little tidbit vaporized, and now that Microsoft owns the game, chances are Minecraft will never be open source.

There are people now who cant run 1.2, it just comes with the computer.
1.9 Will probably take a huge amount of time to make, saying its going to be a big update, and Microsoft owns Minecraft.
Complaining wont help anything, if you want a game that doesnt lag i have no way to help you.
1.9 Is coming out regardless. If your computer survived 1.8, it will survive the next update.

Thats what Akynth is saying, it wont be major update 2. It will be major update 2, minor update 10.
It's not minecraft that's laggy, it's probably your horrible computer. And plus, 1.8 fixed a lot of lag problems that were in the previous updates.
