It's a toggle option, the idea is to remove the masculine arms that the current model has so female skins can look more female.
Most female skins look out of place because of the beefy arms, hoodies tend to look best to alleviate this problem (and they've become much of a trope now)

Uh...why? No female Minecraft player complained about this, as far as I know.
Being a nerd is nothing to be ashamed of. Nerds rule the world! Who invented the internet? Nerds. Who created personal computers and smart phones? Nerds. Who made every video game you've ever played and ever will? Still nerds. Who sent probes to distant planets? Nerds, nerds and more nerds! I'm a nerd and I'm proud.
No it would not, the player hitbox does not follow the limbs at all, it's just a cube box that covers the full extent of the player.
You can try this out yourself by firing an arrow under the chin of another player, you'll see that it will hit the player but not where you'd expect it to, and if you fire an arrow at their feet or hands during their walk animation the arrow can pass straight through them.
Does he want to change default Steve's texture? All of the comparison shots on twitted image show a player with the same skin, except the one with Steve.
No this wouldn't happen, the Steve has too much iconography around it.
He was probably trying to show that a male texture can look softer with thinner arms, the Steve skin is rather beefy and manly to begin with.
I honestly don't think this is really necessary or even making new possibilities. All it does is change the players appearance, it doesn't affect skinners in any way, it just removes a few pixels from the front view.
The original intention of every model in the game was to be genderless, this is not really following that intention, but whatever floats their boat.

Dang I haven't posted here for a very long time. Hello everyone who remembers my ugly avatar and name!
The benefits of this towards female skins was only my opinion, thinner arms could make better skins for any gender.
Minecraft is supposed to be genderless but that doesn't extend to the player which defaults as Steve.
It's not just girls. Nobody has leg-sized arms. I'm a guy and I know I'll use this feature. It is only a slight change, but it makes the avatar look 100% more human (in my opinion).

Uh...why exactly does this matter? Yeah, it looks nice, but...that's it!
What I was worried about was about the player's hitbox, because If it was smaller, I would toggle it for PvP (who won't? xD) but now that I see that it doesn't change... I don't really care but I don't see why this should be implemented at all... sure it looks nice with female skins but that's not how Minecraft works...
The time they've put on adding that could've gone to fix lag and bugs or FINISH OLD ADDITIONS that still are and feel unfinished!

It won't affect the players hitbox, so i frankly don't care.
Yet, i want to see more customization in the future. Maybe 2x2 arms/legs (For skeleton skins). Even through i want smaller players, i know that a lot of people will complain of not being able to hit that person, even if the hitbox is the same.

Huh. To me, I'm sort of mixed about this. I seems weird for a change now, but I'm sure it's just because it's new.

It's not a question about female Minecraft players, it's a question about skin creators complaining, me being one of them.
I think opening additional options for skins is a good thing, this is an option skin creators have been wanting for a long time.
Uh, ok. Sort of a novice skin maker and I have no problems, but OK.
Good question. I think so, but by only 1 pixel.

Wow. I hadn't thought of that!

On-topic: i don't really care.

Very good point.
