It's not my decision where addon authors host their stuff just as it's not my decision on what ads minecraftforum.net displays. If the addon author wants to only host their stuff on curses website then that's there choice and anyone that wants to use the addon will have to make a decision on whether they really want the addon or if they can forget about it. Most people are going to take the ads and get the addon.

So then why do you have a problem with the possibility of the Curse Client supporting Minecraft texture packs?

I don't get your argument. It's free, it's easy to access, and it's in one central location so less bothersome searching the forums/Google.
Did I mention that the addons are all free? Same with memberships (paid is only an option) - Not to mention that you don't need a membership to download addons.

Curse allows downloading their addons in one of two ways. You can either jump through hoops passing advertisements on the way to download an addon or you can download their addon downloader. Any other method is forbidden i.e., WUU WoW UI Updater (http://wuu.vagabonds.info/menu.php).
I'll have to check their terms and conditions, but I am fairly certain they do not forbid putting the addons on other sites. Indeed, I do not think they could actually enforce such a provision, as they do not own our code - we retain our copyright.
I'm actually an addon author myself, and I do indeed upload my code to multiple sites, with Curse being one of them. And I'd pull my code before I agree to a provision that excludes me from using other sites.
In fact, with the MIT license on my code, such a provision would conflict with the license itself, which explicitly gives the rights to "use, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, sublicense, and/or sell
copies of" my addon. If they have such a clause, and especially if they were to attempt to enforce it, I'd have no choice in the matter except to pull the code from the website due to a conflict with the source license. We'd both be legally forced into a lose/lose situation, and I doubt they want that.

There are two options to download addons on curses website, clicking through ads or using the client. If you want to be an addon author like Auctioneer and place your addon on curse and on your own website then thats your choice and and it will be a lot easier to download your addon because there wont be a bunch of ads that the player will have to go by in order to download the addon
More inappropriate ads are showing up (shower cleaner ; it cleans your balls and phallus, exact wording, showing a picture of two soccer balls and a silo), I'm getting more lag traffic, it takes roughly 5 times to submit a post on 3/4ths of threads, and it's starting to take 15 seconds to load a single page.
It isn't my internet either, for other sites and in-game MC works.

There are also almost ninety thousand people on here too. Which is up roughly thirty thousand from about two months or so ago. I haven't noticed any sketchy ads myself, but I rarely pay attention to them in the first place.

Every time I come to these forums, I think more and more that I'm the only person who plays Minecraft normally.

About the first part, some can say Minecrat had a huuuge spike in popularity then.
If you haven't noticed, about 3/4ths of the community (INCLUDING YOU) joined two or so months ago.

That's exactly my point. When I first joined, the server ran fine. In the time I've been here the mass influx of people, of which around 10k are just this month, have degraded its stability.

Which is exactly why we have joined curse. We're moving to their servers in december if I'm correct in my understanding of the timetable, at which point we'll once again be stable and have room to expand.

If it's a performance issue, try using an adblocker. Speeds things up drastically.

They haven't moved on to Curse?
That's odd, when are they? Why did they make this topic in the first place, then?
Wait, we haven't even moved to curse servers yet? So this site is advertising with the profits going to curse, advertising curse, and announced that they joined curse, yet curse hasn't actually done anything for this site yet?

Pretty much.
