I think Fireshock photoshopped it for demo purposes of what would be unacceptable.
Here's a better picture to prove it was not photoshopped. I was going through a thread, when suddenly the banner expanded over the entire browser and blacked everything that wasn't the ad, and then started playing audio. I was completely dumbfounded.
I cropped it because I was hoping people wouldn't accuse me of photoshopping, also to avoid any "LOL IE" comments. Then I realized it was inevitable, so saved an uncropped version too.

I've got ABP disabled, and NoScript disabled - and I still only have 1 banner at the bottom. What browser are you using so I can try it.
I use IE because Firefox is a resource *****. I only have it open here because I was testing something.
Edit: And before anyone gives me **** about having /v/ opened, I'm not a troll.
I have no interest in being forced to use a client to download mods. Downloading them from links in threads works just fine for me.
Curse has never forced people to use their client. To this day, all of the addons available via their client are also available to download via their website, and authors have always had the freedom to make their addons available by whatever means they wish - Curse has never made us sign anything saying we can't use our own websites or other services.

When all is said and done, Will you have said more than you have done?
IE9 Beta gives me Flash ads (for some odd reason, Firefox just gives me ads for the ad company itself as an animated GIF), and Flash is powerful enough to break out of the ad square. I got the effect when hovering over one of the ads (YUP - just a HOVER! No need to click).
Yeah - unacceptable.
. . . and I definitely recommend trying the beta of IE9. It's fast.

Fireshock, stop doing that, next time I'll issue a warning. These adverts DO NOT EXIST here, or on the wiki, you're free to check our source code to find exactly what's causing that, you'll see nothing can be.
Admit that it's fake or warnings will be issued, now is not the time for that.

I swear to God it isn't fake! Another user just confirmed there are flash ads like that in IE!
I love these forums and would never fake anything like that. I'm being completely serious here.

Oh great now we have the propaganda machine coming in. Wahey!
I'm standing by Fireshock.

Panic over, that happens if you rollover for 3 seconds one of the video ads, rolling over for 3 seconds triggers the full video to play. Those adverts display if you trigger them.
I thought you meant they popped up without any user interaction. This isn't a problem, just don't trigger them.
Honestly. I'm fine with image ads, but not flash ads. Especially not these ones. Is there a way to get them changed, because otherwise I will be recommending that this entire forum run adblock and I know you don't want that.

Its like going to a police station telling them how you stole a purse and demonstrating it, while arguing the benefits of it. You'd still go to jail because you're an idiot.
C'mon Notch, splurge a little and put an end to this Activision Notch nonsense.
Notch doesn't manage, administer, own or otherwise influences this forum decisions. minecraftforum.net is independent from Notch or his company, Mojang Specifications. You are barking at the wrong tree.

Anyways, would still love to know anything about my early question, which wasn't answered yet, citricsquid:
Question:
Will this move facilitate an upgrade to a more robust bulletin board software? Something like vBulletin. Because quite frankly, while I use phpBB myself and am quite pleased with it, let there be no mistake: phpBB isn't suited for the size of the community you guys built here, neither it has many of the facilities that could make this community even better.

Curse PremiumI interpreted the meaning of your post incorrectly, sorry.
Its almost like... you didn't read a single... ahh, forget it.
He should probably say so - or the next 8 pages will be unbearable :tongue.gif:I can't get that with Opera, Chrome or FF - and I can't install IE
Oh, okay, I just realized how easily my post could've been misinterpreted. Didn't mean for it to sound like a mock-up.
I really don't know what caused it. All I did was open a thread.

Yeah, I hate the ones photobucket has.
Things like this will just make more people turn to adblockers.
Happens when I hovered over an ad with a plus sign and then there's a count down clock that appears for 3 seconds.

What? This forum looks much better than Bay12's. Unless you're referring to the lack of ads.

Yes, lack of ads, and run/moderated by the creator of the game. I feel Minecraft is big/successful enough by now, that the community deserves it.
Well this sucks.
