Did you see deviantart.net? No there is only deviantart.com. So even if they white list deviantart.com, all images will still be blocked because the images are hosted on deviantart.net.
Huh, well I'll be. Theres the problem.
Bravo, I have been wondering about that since the day before yesterday.
Also, Curse needs to get it's act together. Can I be a forum dev now?
I don't think that'll be an issue. Deviantart.com and deviantart.net run off of the same server and have the same IP address, so in effect, deviantart.com being whitelisted should also whitelist deviantart.net. After all, a URL is simply an alpha-numeric representation of a (currently) IPv4, ya?

Nope.
Yes, they are hosted on the same server, but the simple whitelist doesn't know that. It just checks the url.

A URL is mapped to an IP address (or not mapped, like that of www.348uisjfnk3jn5aw4twa7ew3.net) by a dns server. The only way to tell if a hostname has an ip address (or vice versa) is with a dns lookup (or you can use a cache and hope it's not outdated). They aren't really connected. Also, some sites use load balancing techniques to host the site transparently over multiple servers, and different dns servers return different ip addresses based on which server is closer.
Banned for throwing in special detail.. . . . . . wait, wrong topic. :tongue.gif: Thanks for the insight. I was testing the 2 sites and indeed was stumped as to why .net wasn't showing and .com was, hehe.
yes. they are getting avatars. and minecraft accounts...or they're lying about that. wow. im amazed that the spam was closed already. good job mods! :biggrin.gif:

I want http://gpxpl.us whitelisted. It is the image site for GPX+. If I have been ninja'd, I do not care. At all.

Today, everything's green. - - Tomorrow, is the doom.
Does it have to be an IMAGE hosting site or can it be a file hosting site?
Read the OP :tongue.gif:
You can't view files as images. Just common knowledge. What this does is it turns the websites that aren't whitelisted into links, so if you're still trying to upload a file, it will work just fine.

I've gotten some information regarding this issue. From what I have gathered, not even the forum administrators have access to the whitelist, and the admins have to go through some sort of bureaucratic process in order to add things to the whitelist. I am significantly less irritated in the forum staff as of this development.
Curse, on the other hand, had better step up and start moving. Not impressed with how they're handling this.
I have been somewhat short with the forum staff during the last few days. I have cooled off and redirected my irritation at Curse. Sorry to anyone I may have accidentally flamed, I probably didn't mean it.
Mediafire would be an awesome addition to this list.

Every time I see it I hear my wife saying it. And saying 'Why' instead of 'While' lol.
For real, tho, AVATARS! /sigh We don't stand a chance. Go ahead, turn over MCF to them.
