Can you repeat this bug: Yes, and did several times.
What issues does the bug Cause: Pine/Redwood logs do not trigger the 'Getting Wood' achievement, preventing people who started in a Pine/Redwood biome from getting ANY of the achievements aside from 'Taking Inventory'.
Specific conditions it occurs in if applicable: Used the seed.. uh.. "Sh****ck". Replace **** with itdi. Seems to spawn in a Redwood forest every time so it makes this easy to verify.
Mine does the exact same thing, yet mine doesn't crash, it just stays black.
1.8 uses opengl 1.3 and alot of mac users are finding out their graphics card can only support up to 1.2, thus causing the crash when you try to load a world

Paintings larger than 1 block in height appear completely black.
Specific conditions it occurs in if applicable:
Paintings that do not exceed 1 block in height do not have this problem and show without alike errors.
Edit: It's not the height of the painting as I suspected, but when there is a block above the painting it appears black because of a lighting issue. Removing the block(s) it conflicts with above the painting solves the problem.
P.S: I'd like to see this resolved in a more uniform, practical manner.
Bug: When breaking a block underwater while the player is still above it (not fully submerged) the block does not show the "cracks" that normally appear when breaking a block
Note: When both player and block is underwater the block cracks as normal.

I don't know if this was posted but the severe FPS drop issue seems to be related to torches. I get 200 FPS when I look away from the torch, but when there is a torch in sight, I get between 60-20, average of 28 usually.
I don't think my computer can't handle the lighting since it runs every game in the highest specifications, and I used to get 200-250 FPS with minecraft, though an average of 170 might be realistic. Plus, even if I don't stare at the torch, I still stare at the new lighting effect so it might be the torches itself that cause the problem, rather than the new lighting.
I tweeted jeb about it but I doubt he'll see it, so I thought I should post it here too :smile.gif:

What issues does the bug Cause: *All existing chests in 1.7X beta world render as black objects when the server is upgraded to 1.8. *Some chests also fail to render the way they were placed. Specifically, some chests placed east-west now render north-south (or placed north-south render east-west), in some cases with half of the chest inside of another block (i.e. sticking out of the wall). *Some chests render with its face backwards.
Specific conditions it occurs in if applicable: Replace the 1.7.X beta minecraft.exe server executable with the 1.8 beta executable and start the world.
