If Notch added in all the mods you guys are talking about, you would complain about how lazy he was, because he didn't want to code it himself. So they add in Classic Minecraft as Creative and you rant about how it's not like the mods, and he should use those instead of his own work.
I'm not extremely familiar with worldedit, but doesn't it rely on inputed commands? I think that breaks the simplicity Notch is going for. You don't need to remember commands to type, you don't have to figure out how to input parameters, you just select your items from the list and go. Granted, the more advanced functionality is useful, and makes for a good mod, but I don't think it fits into vanilla minecraft. Its a different paradigm.
Yeah, it's all command-based. Something complex like this would be hard to wrap up into a nice, quick, and accessible way. A GUI would definitely work for it, but it would start losing it's edge at this point.
I can, however, definitely agree on the design decision Notch has taken, as it does fit Notch's plan of trying to keep the game simple and accessible. I mean, you just press 'I' and you've got a menu of the blocks you're able to build with, while I still do find myself running to the WorldEdit docs here and there.
"useless flying hack and TooManyItems with a new GUI."
So basically you don't know the meaning of hacking? How about you do some research my young boy, http://tinyurl.com/3eeezws.
TMI was a great mod, is a great mod. Creative mode is called creative for a reason, for people who cannot install mods.
1.7.3
"Oh i want to build a car out of coloured wool!" (me) "Ohh,,, but i cant because i have to install a mod, and i either cant or dont know how :_C"
1.8
"Oh i want to build a car out of coloured wool!" (me) "Ohh... but I CAN! Because of a new mode called Creative Mode! I am now happy!"
Can you please go back to year 7, research your arguments before releasing to the notch-supportive public and just.. gtfo.
Coding in java is difficult due to problems arising with a missing character etc. and if you say that 'Zero coding is needed' then obvously you DO NOT know about programming at all..
So, with all due respect, and there is none, please, oh pretty please for the love of jesus, get better arguments that are hard to respond to.
Cheerios child!

Ok, as I started this thread, I see I can divide the people here to 3 groups:
OP YOU R N IDIOT!!!!1 - "Oh bloody hell, he said Notch is lazy, and because I talked to someone yesterday the first time but I believe Im smarter than anyone, I understand he attacks our leader and its time to kill him!!!"
! know that Notch built this game pretty much from scratch, and that he worked hard on the new update which I love, it was only a figure of speech. There is no shame in using others ideas, especially if they made it for you. Its OBVIOUS that Notch had programing work to do on the creative mod, but the ideas and theyre solutions were already out there, so its only a matter of writing words in Eclipse...
OP, I do not agree with you - Well, its ok you dont agree with me, it's good that Notch hears about both sides and will see how many people are satisfied and how any aren't.
You infadal! - "Notch is our mentor and we must accept everything he give as if it was given by God"
Well, if I would make a game, I would love to get criticism about it and not hope that people like it and dont get bored from it but are afraid of my wrath if they criticize me. My kind of rude way of speech is just the way I write.
That is generally how one goes about programming, yes.
Actually no, there is an algorithm planning before, which usually is the harder part. But in this case the answers are staring you in the face so theres almost no need to plan...
