Have you noticed how 90% of people on the forum make endermen out to be the worst things ever? Seriously, everyone makes them out to be the worst addition ever to minecraft. And the only argument for tat I'm seeing is, "oh no they're moving my stuff, I can't stand my stuff being not where I put it! (rage rage rage)"
And now people are even making the same complaints about creepers. I think its ridiculous that everyone is making a huge deal because something is seriously doing something to buildings on its own. If you really can't stand the game as is, get a mod to disable it. or just go to peaceful mode.
Endermen are amazing mobs because:
-They present an actual challenge giving you something to do (fix things)
-they add a whole new way to approach mobs
-they don't act like any mob ever previously added to the game
-and they can move terrain on their own
People need to get over the fact that not everything can be perfect and easy.
Personally I love endermen. If anything they need to be more destructive, and better at fighting.
agreed. I hope they get fixed for smp and get a little more sensative about the passive to aggresive change. that way it doesn't matter what part of their body you look at.
I actually enjoy seeing what endermen will do to my buildings. I cam back from a day of explore once to find an Enderman building me a chimney. It looked spiffy, so I left him alone and went on about my business. They are a blessing.
I think they're great, tho I'd like them more if they built actual structures now and then. They should build little shadow shrines, basically a roof held up by 4 columns and then they stand inside them during the day and just look around heh.

Evidence suggests that many people quote posts without reading them in their entirety.
Still no infinite strongholds D:

Just so you know, Peaceful mode doesn't work. NPC's are still there in 1.8.
I think the idea behind them was really brilliant but the implimentation really disappointed me. They're not creepy at all (especially now that they have pink/purple eyes and sparkles ) and are so weak that I feel bad using any weapon against them, despite my habit of fighting them whenever I see them in the hopes that they'll be able to actually give me an interesting fight.
With some tweaks to them though I can see them being a really cool mob. Not sure what is up with the way they move blocks around at random though, I can see a very few cases where this might be mildly creepy but as it is it is just like picking up after toddlers. Have to go and move blocks back around in and even replace them in some cases where they despawned or died while holding parts to a building. Not challenging, fun, or creepy... Just annoying if you ask me. Thankfully they don't do it often though I still wonder what in the world prompted the designers to put such a feature into them in the first place.
Overall their concept is excellent but the actual mobs are just laughable rather than scary and mildly annoying with their constant misplacing blocks. They've become like the little kids of the MC world instead of the scary monsters that they could have been. That's just my opinion though :wink.gif:

Fixing things is not a challenge as I see it, just an annoyance. It's not hard to put blocks back in a wall, just time consuming and irritating. It doesn't add any danger to the game.

True but is that a good thing. I am all for the fast attacking and teleportation mechanics that adds more of a challenge, but random block moving doesn't accomplish anything except messing up blocks...
People need to get over the fact that not everything can be perfect and easy.
This game is in beta, technically that makes us all beta testers, people can express their opinion over what they think works in the game.
Minecraft is a game that has a main feature of moving blocks to make amazing player made creations and has a nice terrain generator. (and lets you fight monsters) I personally think putting a mechanic into the game that randomizes/deletes blocks beyond your control is not a good idea.

When no one was looking, the Endermen took forty blocks.
They took 40 blocks. That’s as many as four tens. And that’s horrible.
Just so you know, Peaceful mode doesn't work. NPC's are still there in 1.8.
I play peaceful mode while doing creative and the only NPC's that are around are peaceful mobs like cows and sheep, no creepers or endermen, not even a zombie.

They also delete terrain as well. When one dies holding a block ... gone forever.

You're exactly the kind of person this was meant for. be realistic about what you're saying. Yes they delete blocks. But in the event that a block they're carrying gets deleted that is vital, you (literally) have billions more lying somewhere around in the world that can easily replace it.
I agree with the OP. People seem to forget it's supposed to be a game, not 3d modelling software. Having monsters that mess with your creation was an awesome idea. If anything I think there should be more mobs that mess with stuff. It's a shame notch is gonna nerf em for the whiners. Creepers are way worse and they ain't goin nowhere.

Creepers only blow up if you let them get too close, THEY add a challenge. What challenge is involved with Endermen? It's just a matter of picking up their messes every morning.

the challenge is the fighting part. the mess cleaning is just something you gotta do to make sure everything is working properly. and to your earlier comment, endermen are only super easy to kill if you play on easy. try playing hard mode where they hit for 4 hearts.

can't argue with that xD

Nothing. They're just there to scare the **** out of you.
