Honestly I think I was mainly bitching the first few days because the newfound lag in SSP makes it nearly unplayable for me and the server I play on will likely be down until a week after bukkit gets updated...so I couldn't really experience any new content. I also just like ranting; debating is fun.
Although theoretically it provides a reason to be more cautious I've found it actually makes the game much easier, which isn't something I'm too happy with. I like the idea, but the fact is there is no challenge to get food on any difficulty yet, hopefully it'll be improved, I think it's a much more fun system than spamming food and never being able to die though.
I also love the addition, only once did we have an issue and it was my husbands fault. He didnt bring food when we were searching a stronghold and he just ate zombie meat for a long time until I gave him some of my food. I mostly like having a REASON to plant wheat and now melons.
On both sides. Some people think being "more realistic" is a guarunteeed way to make a game more fun.
Which of course begs the question: If real life is so fun, why are they playing a computer game?
In any case, most of this is ultimately subjective, so don't really expect to be a king of logic somehow, because it's not really about logic - it's about fun, and fun is subjective. Different things are fun for different people.

When all is said and done, Will you have said more than you have done?
I am with the crowd of people who kind of want a drinking bar just for hard difficulty.
I like this!!!!!
My wife likes watching me play minecraft more now because it is more like harvest moon, and I like it. She gets really sad though when she looks over and it is "slaughter all the chickens" day.
Personally, I wonder why people even bother posting negative topics without suggestions on how to improve things on this forum board. People on this forum are inherently biased in favor towards whatever Notch adds to this game, and any opinion against the norm gets shot down nearly instantly. Yes, a forum board is a place where you can share opinions, but doing what I said above is equivalent to marching into a neighborhood filled with ultra-militant Conservatives and beginning to preach Communist ideology to them, while expecting not to get beat-up. Not saying negative opinions shouldn't be posted here, just saying they should be constructive at the same time.
But I digress. Personally, I find the hunger system invigorating, keeping me on my toes for awhile until I can establish a steady source of food. It also warrants the construction of massive wheat farms and things of that sort.
Right now I find hunger annoying. Eating cooked food doesn't replenish enough in my opinion, and makes involved mining and activities a pain to deal with when you have to eat a chicken leg every 3 minutes. In SMP it's also bugged. My food goes down pretty fast while idling(yes, even the bar shakes as though it's losing value), and seems to stop dropping even when I sprint everywhere. It seems wildly inconsistent.
My biggest problem is that Notch didn't add an alternative way to heal. Healing requires your health bar to be nearly max. This means that even though your bar is just two icons from full, you need to waste an entire piece of meat to trigger healing... and you heal slow. If you're in a mine and get surprised by a mob and need to heal quickly you're screwed.
It would be nice if food didn't go down so fast while mining and if there were health potions or something similar added for alternative healing methods.

For Hardcore player's there should be a Energy and Drinking Bar, also an OLS (one last stand) where you die well.. Your world gets deleted. :biggrin.gif:

It does happen this way sometimes :dry.gif:. I've had a few times where fighting involved a lot of waiting for health to regenerate.
The game is more difficult during a fight, but more boring between fights, or when one has to temporarily flee to avoid death.
Perhaps the health regeneration can be increased.
