Ive noticed that newly spawned 1.8 maps have clay.ALOT of clay.Under the oceans.I think that Notch should reduce clay levels. Not but alot but by a little bit. What do you think?Post your opinion!
I think clay is nice the new way it spawns. Before it was near impossible to build brick buildings without exploring a massive amount of the map. Now I can actually build with it and not worry about traveling a week's time in minecraft for it all.
No! Clay can never be too common. Bricks are a great material to build with. They make beautiful houses if you are a good builder, but before 1.8 it was so hard to get clay. I like it that clay is more common now.
Before 1.8 clay was so rare that you couldn't build more than a fireplace without INVedit. People can now have LEGIT brick houses; why is this an issue for you? Do you just think clay NEEDS to be rare? Just because it's the way it was before? **** that.
I see his points about it being a bit fugly with round splotches of clay everywhere. Yet I also want it to be everywhere. perhaps it should be under a single layer of sand in most cases keeping the rare exposed splotch above the sand. Or under sand in oceans, above in swamps and lakes.

This.
Most clay should be between two other layers of sediment and harder to find.
like this
<-- dirt
<-- clay
<-- stone
but yes it should also be plentiful, and less.... splotchy.
Also it should be more biome specific and only appear in some types of biomes. (oceans, river, grasslands, and swamps, for example)

lol the first 2 comments happened in like 5 minutes of me putting this up.Anyways I got a full inventory row of 64 clay in like 10 minutes.I dont mean like reduce it so much that it cant be found.I mean just reduce it enough where you goto a new biome and instead of seeing like 10 clay areas in 1 body of water reduce it so you see like 7-8 areas of clay.Reduce it a TINY bit.
Let me mention 1.6. It was so hard to find clay there, I ended up deleting that world (which in hindsight, was pretty stupid). But now, I can actually make a legit brick house.

...why? Is the ocean floor REALLY that important to you? I think the amount of clay is great. I don't see how you being able to harvest a lot of it means anything against it. I fail to see a problem.
the point here isnt clay is too common (ignore the title), its about the sea floor looking silly and fits better for a disco floor than a sea floor. the way it seems, notch added clay as a valid sea floor material, but also changed the sea floor "biome" size to tiny. if the sea floor "biome" size would change back to 1.7 one, clay would still be as common in world amounts. even though youll have to search for a while for clay, once you find clay sea floor you are set for life.

May be because I'm just not used to it. *shrug*
What's next, dirt is too common? Smoothstone?

This sums up my thoughts pretty well.

I swear people will complain about anything.
(look I'm even complaining about complaining)
