Agreed with Ovus and the original poster, this is stupid. I recognize you can do a lot of things in minecraft, but there are some things you can ONLY do in minecraft and that are only entertaining in the context of minecraft's world, like building huge awesome machines.
If I wanted to kill monsters and run around, I'd play one of the many, many, many better games that have been made about just that, almost all of which have superior graphics and gameplay to minecraft and do not crash every few hours. In fact, if I wanted to do that, I could just wait for the actual adventure mode Notch is making, or play the mod adventure mode, or download one of the many other mods that make the game more difficult, have more creatures, etc.
The mob grinder concept is something that takes A LOT of work to generate output and even then it's not like it makes you ore and every item, just the TNT to mine like they do in real life with explosives. I didn't really see it that differently from making the diamond pickaxe, it's the next step up and appropriately hard to use. It's detonation was also nerfed to require redstone and therefore, planning as explosives would in real life. It is not cheating, it is simply the idea of scale vs time, which makes minecraft great. By screwing up TNT factories you're stuck with pickaxe only forever and getting the rock to build anything truly big takes so much time it loses all entertainment value.
Also, we're seeing that they do take player placed blocks, even non-block shaped ones like fences. Endermen are cutting holes in growing trees and generally making worlds look like hen-pecked nonsense. They're bugged, I hope, like a lot of things in this clearly rushed update. Calm down, Mojang, you're not gonna lose our attention, nobody likes Terraria, please take your time.
No giant awesome machines = Every other game with swords and monsters
You're not using your brain. Mob farms / death traps / all these things that take advantage of the fact that monsters spawn in dark areas and are killed by drowning (how do skeletons drown, anyway? That needs to be removed..) were created by someone else a long time ago. Doesn't matter if yours looks different, you didn't invent the concept, you copied it from someone else.
Does it really matter? Why are you guys getting so bent out of shape just because someone built something and would prefer not to have it get destroyed every time it is used? It's not just mob grinders that now have to be reworked you know.
You were offered a solution by at least 2 different people. They both said to just make your spawning room only 2 blocks high, so the endermen can't spawn inside it... then just light up the outside really well, or surround it with water.
You claimed to prefer building things, rather than fighting and 'grinding' for items, so rebuild it. 'Use your brain' (another thing you said) and figure out a way to adapt to the situation, instead of whining about it.
Everyone talking about mob traps: that isn't the point. If it were a castle or beautiful house the Endermen had destroyed you wouldn't be saying "deal with it".
Yes, we would. Just like if it was a creeper. If you want to just build and have no uncontrolled interactions with mobs then play creative, which is super easy to do now.
It isn't like Endermen are ripping buildings apart, they move the occasional block around. Creepers asplode you when you think it is safe to walk around, and skeletons chase you into lava pits when you have an inventory full of diamonds.

Actually, Endermen have never messed with my houses or castles. Know why? In a mob farm, the endermen spawn inside the farm and pick up things placed at their feet. They can't spawn in or on top of my house, because it's well-lit enough.
So it comes back to rooms that intentionally spawn hostile mobs inside of them, for which a solution was already offered: Make them only 2 blocks tall, because endermen need 3, problem solved.
Nobody listened to me! I told you it would amount to nothing more than a nuisance. I told you it would be simply irritating and serve no value to the gameplay. You all just called me a whiner and told me I didn't know how they would implement block destruction. Told me Notch wouldn't let this happen. You all had your full faith in Mojang on full display. Mojang would never let this happen, you said.
And yet I was exactly correct. Exactly correct.
A mob a nuisance?! Who would have thunk it?!
Seriously, maybe you need to work on a strategy to deal with the Endermen then come whining on the board that some mob is doing it's job of being a mob? Did you guys come running here the moment a skeleton shot you with an arrow?

got an Enderman-resistant death factory. Apparently it's not completely fool-proof, though. Maybe it could be helpful to you for the time being, although converting your mob killer might be a pain.
Since i've gone through the minecraft "tech tree" many, many times before, I spend my time in minecraft building things. Mostly huge structures or complex redstone creations.
If an enderman came along and moved around some blocks on these delicate structures, I would be pissed.
It is not fun to have to check all of your creations for damage every morning, especially when they are spread out throughout a map.
I would end up spending all of my time repairing my existing creations instead of actually PLAYING the game...

A mob's job is to be dangerous, not to be an irritating waste of space.
Picking apart your stuff and making circles on the ground is not what I would consider mysterious or scary or interesting. It adds nothing to the gameplay. It's just an irritation.
Perhaps you should look at this from someone else's point of view, who has actually experienced the problem, rather than harping on about it when you clearly have no idea what you are talking about
Why exactly would I have no idea what I'm talking about? Do you think I'm magically immune to Endermen? No, they spawn in my world, too.
But that's just it, Enderman moving blocks is NOT game breaking because there are techniques to make it PREVENTABLE. Light radius, fire walls, Lava moats, and Jack-O-Lantern perimeter's all keep this mob from getting near your creations. Why is it such an imposition to adapt to the new terrain and fix it? Mob traps are still very viable, just make them only two blocks high.
Since the feature can be prevented/controlled by the player, I fail to see why it's such an issue. All I see is a bunch of people who just refuse to adapt.
OP, you built a monster trap, I applaud your effort. Just modify it to be only two blocks tall in the spawning areas, light the area around it good with a Enderman killing ring of some sort around it and your creation can keep giving you goodies. Your issue is solved.

Then play Creative or play peaceful. If you aren't interested in playing Survival mode why are you whining about Survival mode features?
IMO Minecraft needs MORE Endermen like mobs. When I started playing it I imagined it as 3D Dwarf Fortress, ie needing to be constantly on alert and building defences to keep the monsters at bay. Instead I can stop any mob with a dirt wall.

I'm just gonna say exactly what I said in the last thread:
- Is your mob trap roof 3 blocks higher or more? If so, why? Endermen are 3 blocks tall, and die in water - so if you set it up that way, they shouldn't be able to spawn, and thus won't be able to dismantle it.
- They can move your machinery. Solution: Build some defences against Endermen so that they can't even *get* to your machinery. By the looks of it, some of it is easily accessible by them so they'll happen to wonder over there and do their thing. The way I see it, this is a good time for people to have a new look at ways to defend their bases. Could be a sky-base with a sprint-jump to get on (So no mobs can even get to your base), a moat, or an underground lit cave - anything like that could probably work. It adds a new way to "survive" in a survival game. I like it.
I was in a guard tower, and got the attention of 3 Endermen for kicks - 5 mins later I went downstairs to see what they were up to, and they were dismantling my wall in an attempt to get to me. I think that's pretty nifty. If they couldn't move those blocks, then they have absolutely no reason to be feared.
They add absolutely nothing to the survival aspect of the game, so spare us that argument.
There are also ways to prevent them, and you've been doing nothing but spouting "I WAS RIGHT! I WAS RIGHT! YOU ALL ARE WRONG, YOUR OPINIONS ARE INVALID!!"

Maybe everyone should stop b*tching about someone "whining" when they're expressing their concern over a particular feature that a lot of the community seems to have issues with. It's perfectly within peoples rights to make suggestions for a game and so stop telling people to just "get used to it" and get used to hearing people disagree with you. Good lord, you'd swear the only people on these forums were 10 years old...
Some people like the Enderman and others don't. Making an option for them to be in the game wouldn't be hard (not EVERYONE wants a completely "creative mode" experience, they just don't like things messing up pre-existing structures without having to do major overhauls) and having such an option wouldn't hinder anyone's ability to have such mobs in the game, everyone is happy, end of story. This is a thread about suggestions for a game, not a place to act like idiots and argue over what game style you like best.

All might not be lost. I was watching AutomatorMC's channel and he discovered that Endermen do not take half blocks/slabs, pressure plates, pistons and mostly not signs ???. Use pressure plates on top of your pads, mobs can still spawn on top of them. Use signs on the sides of your blocks to prevent them from picking up the pads from the sides. When endermen fall off the pads ensure that they drop at least 4 blocks or they can grab the pads from underneath. Use pistons as doors, and also for the bottom of water channels. He used pistons on the bottoms of the channels because the ender pearls can get stuck in the airs spaces if using half slabs.
So it looks like there is some defence. Don't lose hope!
