I think minecraft has got more predator based which i think is a GREAT addition to minecraft. Like think of it. Your hunger bars low, Your gonna start dying of hunger. You walk over to your chest, Get your quiver and bow and go off on a hunt, Scouring the plains for a mob to get that critical hit for that crucial bit of food.
Also is it me, Or do you think mobs like pigs, Chickens and sheep should be more rarer since they drop more food?
Also how would you feel if notch improved "Hunting" and gave it that feel of aiming for the head, Hitting vitals And wounding a animal so it limps / collapses

Apparently animal breeding is going to be a part of 1.9, with animal mobs being much rarer. So finding initial food and animal stocks is going to be a lot more difficult.
Think about it though, Having traps. E.G: Pitfalls and stuff and like those vital hits and increasing their health also making the mobs actually ran away and not sprint in circles around you. Cant wait till 1.9, Hopefully they implement better hunting
I really like the new combat, food, and animal system. Makes hunting passive and hostiles much better IMO, especially at the start since you can't get a massive wheat farm before your hunger depletes.

Animals seem more common than they should be, because they're persistent and spawn with the chunk.
Meaning, they don't de-spawn or re-spawn. If you kill all of the animals in a chunk, that's it.
If 1.8 is compatible w/ 1.9 and we dont have to make new worlds.
We could have chicken farms in preperation.
Chickens or cows would be advised. Cows drop more meat, and leather, but chickens drop fewer meats, and feathers.
So if you are breeding ANYTHING breed cows or chickens.
(Or wolves in smp. if they are breedable. ;} )

Unfortunately, we can't farm animals until 1.9 (or possibly the official 1.8 release).
I have worked around this though, as detailed in this thread:
Since chickens drop meat and don't despawn, and eggs have a chance to spawn a chicken when thrown, you can actually farm chickens for meat, feathers, and eggs!
Minecraft felt instantly different for me once I had a house and stuff set up, because I had to go exploring to find the new features, and the hunger feature made it so I had to hunt stuff, which in turn made it easier to explore at night. It's just so fun going round finding skeletons or creepers and the like, and just attacking them. Kill or be killed. It's exhilarating!
