Oh man.. Do not let them get the best of you. They will consume all. 4 vines were planted, 12 hours later they've claimed my property as their own.

Lol that happened to me also i was like hmm a little bit of vine would make for a good decoration. *Goes mining a bit*. *Comes back AHHHH WTF!*

yeah i know on my multiplayer server we found a vine put it came back and half the town was coverd with them the next day the people on were trying to destroy them all

haha too funny. Glad to know this. I will be careful with that stuff. It really is like kudzu.

I was hoping vines would act like ladders, so you could climb up them.

LOL. That's hilarious; sorry for your misfortune of having vines everywhere, but the way it's expressed here is humorously. I noticed that in my map - I spawned in a swamp Biome and saw the moderate level of vines and said "wow that's neat". As I've been playing, I noticed that the vines were absolutely EVERYHERE they could get... Including a hole I fell into and couldn't see how to get back up.

That's pretty cool.

I'm honestly a bit sorry for how hard I'm laughing at everyone's misfortune as a result of vines.

Holy crap, that's crazy (and very funny). I would've expected that they would have restrictions on how far they can spread based on light level, but apparently not?

In real life people have to cut vines off of their houses if it affects them, so totally realistic.

Moral of story: Vines are nuisances, not decorations! (unless your trying to make some ancient/ruin thing)

I decorated my house and floating island with a couple of them.

My house is connected to everything else I made by a bridge...

Soon everything I've ever made will be covered in them

They really need a limit to how far they can grow

They really are out of control. They look really cool though. I think putting a limit on how far one piece placed can grow may help. A swamp biome is near a desert on my map. After 12 or so hours part of the desert's sides are covered in vines and slowly spreading even more.

Restrict non-user placed vines to spread in swamp only too.

Yea, fire and vines don't play well.

That said, I haven't had any problems - they can't spread on floors.

Shears can clip them instantly, so that can always help.


Do they actually burn though?

Too bad the vines all all over my wooden structures

I had an issue where the first seed I created had a lava pit near the swamp. One vine must have grown too close, because as I'm building my house I notice fire. So, I rush over, worried the entire place will burn to the ground. Of course, a creeper comes out from behind a tree as I'm heading to the scene. Luckily I got distance before he exploded.
