Notch.. Mojang.. I love you guys. When you said you were implementing ocean biomes to separate continent-like landmasses, I figured you were just going to be enlarging the current lakes and making them deeper. Nothing too fancy or great, but just a bit better than what we had.
Boy, was I underestimating you guys. You went all out. You didn't bring us large lakes. Hell, you didn't bring us the great lakes. No, you brought us THE PACIFIC OCEAN:
I had spawned on creative mode to mainly do some massive exploration, see all the different biomes. What did I find upon spawn instead? The most epic ocean biome ever. Ravines, valleys, underwater caves, underwater friggin' abandoned mineshafts, this place has it all. Lots of squid, too. I'm glad they don't sink to the bottom anymore.
I'm seriously hoping with all my heart that this isn't some bug, glitch, or just the seed itself that made the entire world like this (though, I won't complain too much if the entire world is like this).
If this isn't a bug or glitch or entire-world thing, and we can find this occasionally on a SMP server, my friend can finally make his Rapture he's been wanting to, rather than make it at the bottom of a shallow lake. And I can make my WaterWorld-themed floating town. :biggrin.gif:
I've seen 2 maps so far that require a few hours to fly around the entire ocean but yours is the first island-like map i've seen. Whats the seed? :biggrin.gif:

yesh o.o I've been recreating new worlds just to find something similar, i've always wanted to live in a lone island with no landmasses nearby

All I can say is, I really really hope they implement some sort of official underwater exploration content, submarines and/or diving helmets. This has SO much potential, but I don't want to HAVE to rely on mods to do some serious, in depth underwater exploration. : <

Stupidity and lack of common sense make me snarky and fill me with rage.
Online forums are not a good place for me to be.

Go due west (Up on the map) and you'll eventually run into a large continent with hills and a large swamp. I don't think this is a bugged/glitched/waterworld map! :biggrin.gif:
Damn I had a world even emptier than this. I explored over 2000 chunks+ in each direction and only found a few, very small islands with nothing on them. :sad.gif: I deleted the world without thinking. The island was perfect, too! It had two trees, some sugarcane, a cactus, and a small vein of coal in the corner as well as a larger, yet less resourceful counterpart. :sad.gif: As I was exploring the area around the island, I noticed that a mineshaft had spawned under water and a torch wasn't being washed away. Then, I found another insane cave that was part of a mineshaft. It started on the ocean and went down to layer 10. AND THEN, I found A VILLAGE under the water! Holy Atlantis! XD

RIP Sebbas, if only you knew what they did to your server...

I think that some of these oceans are bugs because the land spawns too low because I have seen 2 so far where there were no trees within the confines of the first day in any direction. Also I saw one where I think there was a stronghold underwater because I spawned at like 1000z and swam back to 0,0 just to look and there was a place where the water literally stopped going down in the middle of the ocean over a really big gap which I didn't go into because the distance down was insta death range. But it may have been an underwater something else with some sort of water repulsing force field on top of it.

seed egypt u spawn on a tiny 5x5 block island or so surrounded by water as far as the eye can see, explored 90% of the map and all i found was a bunch of island and a total of 1 small tree 3-4 block high on one of the 7 islands, all the islands were plains biomes.
OMG ironic
Seed = shipwreck you spawn on a small island with 1 tree thats like 8 wood block high, need to explore now ill edit this when im done exploring the map.

I'm currently at the center of a seemly medium size island with a er 20 or so blocks deep ravine
Unless the Cataclysm is upon us! Quick, hide and watch out for metal plated black dragons!

I hope Notch and his team begin working on more ocean related stuff such as larger ships, fish, etc.

Yup thats the one. Theres a mineshaft in that ravine, if you go into the cave down there a bit.
