abandoned mineshafts can be massive. However from what I can see there is a problem. Essentially the only structures are wooden archways but due to the terrain generation a lot of these are just floating in midair. You can come across a huge room but with some wooden arches just floating. This just looks silly. Will this be fixed?
I'm sure it will be fixed later on.
