So we all know if in the right conditions mobs won't despwan... Does the apply for hostile mobs also because if so I will be VERY tempted to trap a Enderman at what ever the cost! Even if it means mining INSANE amounts of obsidian to catch me one of them :biggrin.gif:

There are a lot of conditions based for aggressive mobs that let them despawn or stay, mostly depending on where your location is. If you could trap an Enderman, you might have to do it with where he has spawned, and we really don't know how they react when you get close and personal yet, everything we've seen has started far away, then the infamous "stare" happens. If you were to lure them to a prebuilt trap, I imagine they could just warp right back out of it?

also here's a sentence so this isn't a one-word post
As sinstrite has pointed out, endermen would probably just teleport straight out of the trap...which is kinda dumb if they can go through solid objects...
I've developed a trap that doesn't kill the animals and traps them, and they can't get out either. Screenshot: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/9/20110906185907.png/
It needs:
2 of any material (walls, roof and floor)
2 pressure plates (any kind)
2 pistons
The way it works is, when the unsuspecting animal walks into the pen, it activates the pressure plates and the piston go up. If it tries to get out, it trips the plates again and continues to deny exit.

It reminds me alot of the cages in Jurassic Park II the ones ingen was useing in thier base camp..... I LOVE IT! lol 4 juu
-edit- But I must admit I will get stuck in that.... I'm that much of a klutz
-edit2.0- Now I'm gonna be pondering all sorts of clever ways to lead the animal to my ranch I already thought up two
