Seems that the poll is showing that the majority of people are happy, me included. But hey I'm cool with you disliking a game. Just dont go around saying other people are stupid for liking what you dont.
Are you seriously going to just say "I already addressed that" to my "Obligations" post that I took the time to write out FOR YOU AND YOU ALONE?
I knew I should have just ignored your sorry ass instead of taking the time to try and explain myself to you.
Edit: Sorry for the personal attack, but I honestly can't believe you completely ignored TWO posts that I made for you AT YOUR REQUEST. Either my arguments were solid enough to make you feel foolish so you ignored them, or you're just trolling.
Report me if you like.
I can't remember these posts of which you speak of anymore, I don't doubt there existance, I'm just saying I forgot there intended message already. I read them at the time roughly when they were posted, they just never stuck with me. You can quote yourself or something, but I don't think that will do you much good once I reach the next page of the topic. I have a short memory for items that do not contain my interest, a personal shortcoming on my part really.

It is *CLEARLY* obvious that the eFame and millions of dollars Minecraft has made for Mojang has gotten to Notchs head, and by extension, the companies.
...
So to clarify: Even though Minecraft development seems slow and unsatisfying these days, Notch is of the opinion that he has no real obligation to help speed the progress along. Instead he chooses to enter weekend long game contests and work on his other (non-minecraft) game projects.
To any person with a conscious, that mountain of wealth (earned from Minecraft sales) would be an incredible motivator to complete the project that so many millions have paid him in good faith to complete. Yes, we knowingly purchased a product that was incomplete, but that purchase also included a promise of continued development for an unnamed period of time. Unfortunately we were never given any sort of development schedule and the guys at Mojang seem to be cool with a decidedly lazy approach to pretty much everything concerning Minecraft.
...
I've been of a similar opinion of "Notch" for a long time. When the game suddenly made him rich and famous, I would suppose that he began to think of Minecraft as a success, and in many ways it certainly is; but perhaps unconciously, this success has also translated into "complete" in his mind. Which has let him feel more comfortable than it should about spending time, and money that was paid for Minecraft, on other new projects.
I certainly wouldn't expect anyone to spend months thinking exclusively about one thing (ie. one game/coding project), but I suspect Notch will find himself infamous rather than merely famous if he throws away all the resources and goodwill offered to him for Minecraft on other things.
As a sub note to that last idea, I percieve it as a big slap in the face how much of Minecon is likely to be dedicated to his other projects. If he wants it to be about things other than Minecraft so thoroughly, it ought to be called Notchcon or Mojangcon or w/e.

I like how this is not just another immature person bitching about Mojang. What you wrote was a great, critical comment to Mojang.
What I do have to say about Notch's "break", is that it's not sure that he's actually just doing nothing. If he is, he is probably spending time with his wife (they're newly wed after all). If not, he's most likely making a cool game as a break from Minecraft and Scrolls. Being a progammer myself, I know it can be boring to work on the same thing every day. Having a break might just motivate him and inspire him to continue working on Minecraft.
I hope Mojang will consider reading your comment and try to improve.
A personal blog can not be counted as legal advertising or just about everyone in the world would be breaking this law. I can say right here, right now, that unicorns are real, on a public forum and I would not be breaking any law of false advertising unicorns. See the ridiculousness behind that way of thinking yet? Notch could easily tweet that minecraft may contain copious amounts of sharks that shoot chainsaws that explode and I pretty much garentee he won't be subject to breaking any false advertising law.
Edit:
Am I really to believe that minecraft would benefit from story? No, I can’t really say minecraft is just story material. The moment you put a story in games you make a linear path and eventually will reach end game. That just isn’t minecraft and never should be. It shouldn’t be about getting from point A to point B. That doesn’t mean a open-ended sand box game with no absolute goal in mind shouldn’t have rpg elements. Look at Elder Scrolls: Oblivion. You pretty much didn’t need story to enjoy the rpg mechanics in that game.
Are you seriously going to judge a company solely on a way they handle a game? It's hard to argue results with Mojang and chances are I am going to give their other games a chance at the very least. To condemn a company because they don't see eye to eye or handle things in a manner that is to your liking seems harsh to me.
Yes.. Yes I will. They are a GAME COMPANY, so the way they handle their game development is how they should be judged, since that is what they are selling.
You seem to have no concept of money, or legal obligations that come along with money.
I don't buy SoE games because they pulled a ton of ******** with Everquest, SW:G and Planetside. I learned my lesson from them that a company should be judged on the quality of product they provide, not by the people in the company. Everyone who works are SoE is probably a good person, but the way they deal with their games and develop them is sub-par.
The same could be said for Mojang at this point in time, and I hope they don't go down the shitter.
While I do respect the OP for making valid points instead of just trolling like most 1.8 haters, I disagree. The only point I really want to make is that Notch did not "Take a break" from Minecraft because he couldn't handle it, he passed the torch to somebody else (Who has been hired to work on the games at Mojang) so he could work on something else. Notch does not work at Minecraft Incorporated, he works at Mojang AB. It is not a one-game company, and they are allowed to work on more than one project at once. Just felt like pointing that out.

Well, I was actually going to put in a full edit, but then I decided you would probably reply, so why bother. Although to address the question at hand, I asked for your opinions because that contained my interest, your answer however did not meet that requirement, only the question I asked did.
Now as for the previous post, my post was in no regards saying that those were your motives, you've already clearly established your beliefs on the matter. The post to which I was replying was short but it stated "finish what you started Notch!!!" which my assessment was based more on this. The sentence clearly states that the poster feels that Notch should finish one product on hand and should not work on multiple products at once, so they were really arguing the way Mojang was handling things.
I was just stating that rebating a company solely because of this is a harsh and perhaps even unfair thing to do. I also went on to say that a company should also be judged by the products they have made, aka results. Which I believe has some merit to it. My Bethesda example summed that up I believe.
The last paragraph of my post stated that it was my personal belief that the end product can sometimes be the most important part when buying a game or trusting a game company for future releases? Which was my personal opinion on matter.

Wait, what kind of logic is that? You paid money for minecraft... so he must spend that money on minecraft? Thats now how it works. you sell a game, you make the money, you pay the developers so they can live, and then you use the money to make new games. This isn't a kickstarter project. He never said "Give me money to make minecraft", he sold you minecraft.
I certainly wouldn't expect anyone to spend months thinking exclusively about one thing (ie. one game/coding project), but I suspect Notch will find himself infamous rather than merely famous if he throws away all the resources and goodwill offered to him for Minecraft on other things.
Are people donating money to him to support him developing minecraft? Not that I know of. People are buying the game. He does have the agreement to complete the game, but nowhere does he say he will turn every dime earned by minecraft back into its development. They are still working on the game. They have plans to continue working on the game well after it is released. Why do people act like they have halted all development?
As a sub note to that last idea, I percieve it as a big slap in the face how much of Minecon is likely to be dedicated to his other projects. If he wants it to be about things other than Minecraft so thoroughly, it ought to be called Notchcon or Mojangcon or w/e.
How much of the Penny arcade expo is dedicated to penny arade? It would be a shame to spend all the money and effort to organize this event, then exlcude any other activities because they are not directly related to minecraft. Minecraft is the focus and the reason it exists, but every minute of the con does not need to be dedicated to it. He's using his sway to help out others, allowing them to demo their own indie games.

There's an entire convention centered around the release date. A convention they've sold tickets to and people have bought plane tickets and made hotel reservations. If it weren't for the fact that a ton of people could be EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED by mine con being either pushed back or having no mine-craft release, I wouldn't care about the slow development.
Not only will it disappoint fans, but something like that could irreparably damage their reputation.

I understand that the post of yours I quoted wasn't in reply to me. I used it for two reasons. One, it was your most recent post in the thread, and two, I wanted to use your line, "Are you seriously going to...".
In hindsight, I should have just quoted your reply to my "Obligations" post.
And... concerning your reasoning for not answering me....

I agree with these statements, but I would like to say that he's probably not spending enough money on Minecraft, considering he's only got one other guy working on it and he's sold at least 3,000,000 copies and has a potential market of millions more.
Feel free to disagree with me, but with a release date that's pretty much set in stone, he needs to invest more into Minecraft to make it into more of a success than it is.
Yes.. Yes I will. They are a GAME COMPANY, so the way they handle their game development is how they should be judged, since that is what they are selling.
Well, I believe I stated that I believe the product in question to be more important than how it was handled or created. It is my own personal opinion on the matter just as it is your own person opinion on the matter if you believe the most important aspect is how the product came to be rather than the product itself. I simply argued this because I believe that someone is just purchasing the product, so should not the product be the most important part when buying product?

They've made it clear that there is not really anything special about the release date. There is not going to be some fundamental shift if how minecraft functions for it, no magical feature he wants to include. In fact, I think he said that between 1.9 and release will mainly be bugfixes and optimizations.
Though I find it somewhat ironic that those at minecon will be the least capable of playing minecraft upon release. They get to see notch press the button to release it, but everyone else gets to download the update immediately.
The date mainly represents a shift in the attitude of the game. Upon release, they will have to be more careful about stability, more restrained in altering the maps, etc. As well as releaseing more themed updates.

Something I don't see happening if they continue this trend.
Minecon is going to have plenty of computers for people to play minecraft on, and Notch stated this at PAX.
Nothing special about the release date except for tons of money being poured into it, not just from Mojang, but from the consumer.
Even though it's just a beta, most betas are FREE TO PLAY, with the option of buying in if you want. Mojang hasn't given anyone a "beta access" account for free, so if this is how they handle updates to paying customers in "beta," do you really think it will be any better on release?
I don't think this game is really a Beta at all, TBH. It doesn't have the familiar aspects of a Beta. Like the fact that most of the people playing it, are playing it for free. The fact that they have devoted resources to anti-piracy, and the fact that they are shifting resources to games that are only on the developmental horizon when the primary game that got them attention is still in "beta."
They should be, at least, hiring new resources to work on these new games and allocating their current and best resources towards Minecraft. This says a lot about their business practices.
Are you serious? The question you asked was interesting to you, but my reply was not? That's your justification for completely ignoring two posts directed at, and requested by, you?
I read the posts, no where did I say I ignored them, do I have to post some sort of comfirmation that I have read your posts, but I'm not going to make a direct response to them though because of reasons that are my own. The reasons being I don't agree with it. But that doesn't mean I will go posting telling you that my opinion is that your opinion is wrong because it doesn't have any real principal to it other than your personal experiences. I'm not really going to get anywhere with that am I? I see the end result so I see no point.

Would you like to pre-purchase my box of cookies? It's only a beta right now, but I promise all the cookies will be there by the time it's a full box of cookies. I swear!

Your assumption that I paid for what I was recieving at that time and nothing else is entirely incorrect (even though for other games and other companies it is often the case). In the case of Minecraft, I paid in advance, for a game that is to be completed, because I liked what the beta had to promise for the future. As an advance purchaser of the game, in thanks for helping to support the creator during this time of development, I paid less for the game than what is was planned to be retailed for once completed.
So yes, I do expect the money I paid to be used for the development of Minecraft as a complete and rounded game, that is precisely what I paid for.
Why do people act like they have halted all development? ... It would be a shame to spend all the money and effort to organize this event, then exlcude any other activities because they are not directly related to minecraft. ...
I didn't, nor do I think the OP, ever claimed that all development was halted or that all resources were diverted elsewhere, that is a gross and purposeful misinterpretation. We are dissatisfied with the proportion of resources allocated. Resources doesn't just mean dollars either.

I didn't, nor do I think the OP, ever claimed that all development was halted or that all resources were diverted elsewhere, that is a gross and purposeful misinterpretation. We are dissatisfied with the proportion of resources allocated. Resources doesn't just mean dollars either.
