it doesnt look like they are an item, you don't collect them in your inventory, they just go into your xp bar. also they drift toward the player so you don't have to run up and collect them.
Notch will probably make it so that xp orbs will always be collected by the player, even if you far away they will move toward you, gaining speed so you cant escape them :ohmy.gif:
anyway, you can't complain about something we don't know all the facts about. and xp orbs are in tons of games and they work fine.

But exp orbs are indeed not items, you can't get them in your backpack
in the video, the orbs slowly levitated towards you. That gives me the feeling that they would not act like normal items. maybe not dissapearing, and stuff like that. the ranged stuff? yeah, a little annoying, becuase they only gravitate towards you if your pretty close.
i disagree only for a point: it they're dropper after death ppl that make mob farms can harvest ton of 'em >.>
They should be get on killing out of suffocation/lava/drowning only or it would be easy to farm 'em >.>
They added in code so they know what kill a mob. Grinders will not produce XP. In fact, they are considering making the item drops do the same thing, so grinders won't give loot.

Let's see... I died and now the server I was on is lagging REALLY bad as I try to pick them back up. EntityRenderer is horribly overloaded, and FPS is stuck at 1. Can someone write a patch to remove it? It doesn't even do anything at this point.

I understood it the first time I read it and english is not even my native tongue.
