I am wondering what uses the blocks which make up these mushrooms will have! I would say at least 1 new block, separated by metadata into stem, red, and brown, or three new blocks.

I'm guessing the 'canopy' blocks are distinguished between red and brown by metadata, and the stem is distinct. (Though conceivably it could simply be another kind of wood.)
