This tells me that the town borders are important for the player to know. The question is, why? My guess is that within town borders, NPCs have free reign over blocks. As such, anything you build within the boundaries could possibly be subject to NPC alteration.

maybe that and there's different kinds of npcs, like passive ones that are nice, and redneck ones that kill you if they see you on their property

I think your right in regards to the NPCs being able to alter any blocks within the boundaries. Maybe there could be a cobble or stone wall surrounding the village. Or to update the maps, there gold be a sorta transparent gold hue on the map where the village is.

Notch rejected the idea of walls to mark it. Check the second tweet.
Actually, that could imply one of 2 things:
he doesn't want players to remove the marker
or
players can influence where the border's are.
Based on the wording, I think the latter is what he means. This could mean you will be able to raze a town and destroy their territory, or perhaps by helping them they can grow.

I think a civ-like border style could work. When you're in the village, have a colored ring around the village, showing where the boundaries are. And when you leave, it goes away.
Or maybe have a message pop up on screen telling you that you're entering the village, and have some symbol or something somewhere on the HUD while you're in it, so you know where the borders are.
Regarding the borders, Notch said he was having trouble figure out a way to tell the player where the border is and i thought maybe if a message in the bottem left corner or something came up telling you "you have now entered a village" and if you left the borders of the village it would say "you have now left the village" could this work?
5 block high wall of cobblestone with one gate each direction also works. And I think the border should be something physical so that random mobs won't suddenly walk in by accident and cause trouble.
And he last mentioned he had problems letting them LOOK GOOD.
He said in a tweet higher up the page he didn't want walls.
Silverfish are like quivers, there is no comfirmation they will be added last time I checked.
I predict the borders will be ever-expanding. Also, you should be able to place down your/players/factions border to claim land. If it interrupts villagers, they'll conquer it and stuff.
So we don't build in their territory in which case they will either destroy our creations and/or kill us.
Yes but that would sorta be user error. I mean if you build a diamond sculpture in the middle of a dark field then go admiring it at night.... if it gets blown up by creepers, its not the games fault.

I guess I just want to hear some opinions on it, i mean in multiplayer with diamond armor and food you could have hundreds of arrows in you and it could be kinda crazy. So what im wondering is will they be retrievable? Will the bodies last with the arrows in it? etc. It adds a lot of new elements when you think about it.

Probably when you kill the zombie you will get the arrows that are stuck in the zombie, just guessing.
