I think they are awesome. I don't get why people are so unhappy with their design. Noticed they won't go in houses though. Even made a hole big enough for one.
The Testificates are peace loving squidwardfaces! They most they can harm is wheat! Giving them a sword and saying "Here, protect yourself" is just silly. Besides, the iron giants are big, loveable lugs; they even give villagers roses! It's adorable!!
Personally, I love the way they're doing golems. Snow Golems are entertaining little punks, and useful to boot, and now we have these guys... If I was sure he'd protect me, I'd make one on my survival map and name him paul, and we'd go 'splorin' together and have all sorts of fun.

I love their design! I like them! but it's kinda strange seeing a giant irom monster defending squidwards, i would accept the golems in villages if the Testificates were a bit more productive and smarter
I prefer them to teh snow golem, which i think just looks retarded. I think the idea of necromancy in Minecraft is kinda cool but using pumpkins to facilitate necromancy just seems so left-field. Clay soldiers does a good job introducing necromancy but i would prefer a more complex system that doesn't involve growing pumpkins to bring stuff to life.
Not really sure about them (partly because I didn't test the snapshot yet).
First of all, they seem kind of expensive to build. It's a fair price when they respawn (which they appearently do when build inside a village).
Well, and it's not 100% know (to me) if they respawn in a village when build by a player. If they do, good, then the previous point is not as bad if they are used as defense for villages (as it would be a one-time-investement).
Still, 4 Ironblocks is rather expensive. Couldn't one block be made out of stone? Or two? Not all, of course, but one or two. Maybe the "arms"
If they were made of less iron, it would be overpowered. Seriously, they make 9 hearts of damage and take 13 hits with a diamond sword to kill. They don't need to be cheaper to build.
I say again: I don't dislike them! it's just kinda weird seeing an iron golem in a simple village but nevermind, after some time they aren't strange now :smile.gif:
After you spend a long time in a world, you have so much iron that you don't know what to do with it. If the golems required any less iron you could make armies of them, which would be ridiculous.
But pointless; the thing about golems is you have no actual control over them. They will wander off... It would be more like creating an army of really curious, but overgrown children.
People wont complain about them until after they got used to building with them. Once that happens people will realize that it makes the game too easy and will cry fowl to nerf them. People will argue for keeping them the way they are with the classic "If you don't like them don't use them" argument and Minecraft will move on.
If they were made of less iron, it would be overpowered. Seriously, they make 9 hearts of damage and take 13 hits with a diamond sword to kill. They don't need to be cheaper to build.
According to the wiki, they deal 3.5-10 hearts of damage and have 50 HP.
I like it. I think it fits perfectly with the Testifticates.
Eons ago, the people of the Minecraft world came together to live in peace and harmony. To maintain their connection to nature, they split into small villages all over the world. focusing on living in their little, intimate communities.
They all took an oath to lead simple lives devoid of opulence or violence, spending the majority of their time meditating, conversing telepathically, and reading. They have also sworn to never use their hands, relying strictly on their telekinesis.
To defend themselves, the Elders came together and used the most advanced of their ancient knowledge to breath life into pieces of iron. These iron golems protect the village, allowing the Testificates to pursue lives of peace and contemplation.

I think adding the golems was a step in the right direction. They add a sort of mystical feeling to minecraft that it's missing.
Yeah, that's how I feel about them too. Adding potions and enchants was 'magical' and all, but it didn't make the game feel more mysterious or anything.
Iron golems feel like one of those key inventions of a different universe, reasonable enough to function, but still strange enough to surprise us.
Someone said it take about 15 hits with a diamond sword to kill. That's pretty strong, especially when you take splash potion into regard. But seeing their curent cost, it requires more iron than a full set of armor, which makes you basically invincible. So I'd say it's balanced.
I wonder id Jeb will add golden and diamond golems?

I honestly don't see how difficult it can be to add two different variations of testificates.
One would be an archer, and reside in a tower. It'd be able to see quite far.
The other would be a knight or guard. It would have a normal view distance and a stone or silver sword.
They are cool their model is cool and the attack animation is cool
They are just... strange to appear in a village
Why not add simple Testificates with chainmail armor and stone sword?
The golem should not be removed, but instead placed as a mini-boss in the plain room in the abandoned mineshafts!
EDIT: I really like them, but not as a real village defense, anyway it should keep killing the zombies
EDIT: After playing for some time i don't have any problems with them :smile.gif: Just tell me if you like them or not

> This is only proof that no matter how good the addition is, the Minecraft Forums will ***** about it.

A stone golem might have made more sense though for the villagers. Their dwellings are pretty primitive

Right now I can't wait to see them in action.

Just to clarify :tongue.gif:
They look cool, there attack animation is cool!
Everything about them is cool! Besides, fighting doesn't seem.... right, for testificates. They need something to defend them!

It makes perfect sense for an intellectual species with limited physical capabilities to build a defensive golem.
One even tried to give me a flower.

For me that just seems a lot more natural.
