Mainly just bug fixes, but includes a new block in creative and you can now place half-slabs in the upper half of a block without a half-slab below it.

Here's a pic of the new creative block called stone bricks;
Is there only one new block? I can see two extra textures in the terrain.png file. The color looks similar to sandstone, but there are engravings on it. I can make out a creeper face, and eye, a square and something else on them...
I've tested the pre-release and if it is released in its current state it would be a major gaffe by Mojang.
The Anvil world generation is still not generating trees properly and it has been like this from the beginning. Has anyone brought this to Jeb/Mojang's attention.
I will list the issues trees have in generating again like I have before just in case somebody here wants to bring it to Mojang's notice.
1) Birch trees are almost non-existant.
2) All oak trees generated are 5 blocks or less tall. No branching trees exist. (aka small forest bug)
3) Pine trees do not generate at all.
4) In swamps swamp trees are only generating in 1 block deep water and are not found on land anywhere.
5) Mushroom Islands do not generate giant mushrooms.
Some Screens of the issues.
1) and 2)

Hopefully this will be fixed before any official release. I find it hard to believe that it hasn't been brought to the developers attention.

When no one was looking, the Endermen took forty blocks.
They took 40 blocks. That’s as many as four tens. And that’s horrible.
Considering people already are complaining about Iron Golems again, I'm gathering that might get looked at

The Emperor's Rage echoes through the hills. The Emperor's Strength grips this land with fists of iron. The Emperor's Courage burns everlasting. The Endless Army will crush the Emperor's foes.

This change alone is quite possibly the most exciting thing I've seen all week. I'm squeeing in joy.

Yeah, it's great There's a few lighting bugs though, it looks like the bottom of upper-half slabs can't be lit from the block below, only the top or the sides.

If I see further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.
Hey Jon, what about Giant Mobs, like the old giant, and the spider-for-screenshot Jeb made? They could be rare, like spider jockeys. Let's see the Golems fend off those =]
That tree-gen glitch (yes, giant shrooms are considered trees by MC gen-code) could be pretty serious, but I like the new rarity of birches. Makes them feel like the hipster, elitist swine trees they were in early Beta before they had saplings, so it's only right that now it is hard to find one in the first place. But swamp trees and pines need to be restored.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Random acts of petty fanboyish hatred?

Thanks for adding info, where are you getting it?
Iron Golems now have a proper "neck" (head pivots from bottom center) like most other mobs in the game
Any recipe on that?
It has been said several times, that this update actually fixes doors - but existing ones will need to be taken and placed again to be updated.
Jeb's twitter and Reddit.
They changed the way doors work, so old doors will need to be replaced. Mobs can now tell if a door is opened or closed and double doors work better.
Currently you can only get the new block in creative mode.

Why not just release it today? Why give a pre-release if it's in it's final form? Just release it.

Edit: New forums are buggy/slow. The above statement made 3 copies of itself.
It's most likely for bug testing.
