Since the 1.1 patch, you can see that. It's called a forest biome with generated hills.
I guess you have a point. But it was still nice when that kind of biome didn't really have a strict name to it. It was just referred to as a forest, instead of a "forest biome with generated hills". The old forest had a sense of freedom to it though. It happened randomly, it sort of created itself by accident and not on purpose. All of the biomes blended together and overlapped like colors in a rainbow, into the masterpiece that you would soon call your level. Now it seems more of the computer telling it what to do (even though that's what it originally did anyway though).
Looking online for seeds was much more common prior to 1.8 though. Ever since the change in world generation, there has been no need for it.
Edit: I mean seriously, why would you give up something like this...
For this?
Even after 1.8 you can still find awesome locations. The biomes are bigger though, so they are harder to get to. It didn't help that for a long tome you always spawned in a forest witch at that time was almost completely flat and boring
Id love bit coal and ir on deposits. instead of balanced veins, why not huge pockets of underground resources? that way you have a reason to set up a base in a certain area and you could have a "coal mine" or "iron mine" literally! it would make for great servers too. just and idea though. not really a problem...but still.
1)The terrain generation. Its boring now in my opinion...404 and gargamel were epic...you don't see anything like that now.
2) Minecraft is easy...most people have been playing for a while now...and sure I may not have built anything insanely complicated with redstone yet or build a huge castle or something, but that's because I don't want to,I like the exploring part of minecraft, back in teh days when i was a complete noob. It took forever to find my first few diamonds. I was so excited to finally make a sword or pickaxe. Now however, I can find diamonds in my first day, or if not, redstone and gold. I mean come on... now it's not hard at all to cut down a tree, get stone, mine iron, smelt it make armor and better tools and mine, in one day. Minecraft needs more of a challenge. At least for the people who have been playing a long time. I know there is a hard and harcore mode, but that still isn't enough. When i was a noob, night time was a threat. I rushed like hell to build a shelter, now i'm just like meh. I still build one, trying to make myself remember the old days and pretend that i could be killed easily. Zombies break down doors now...that's the first step to what i want, but we can always make a hole in a cliff and cover it with dirt now couldn't we...
So im not sure how, but minecraft needs to be harder. The armor btw, is still too op.

Once again the "minecraft is too easy" crap. Ok, back on your noob days, as many other players (me inculded) had no idea where things were (different ores on different specific layers). Basicly now you know where to go straight to get certain thing. In the past you didnt knew all the things you know now, you probably had to open the wiki or something with the crafting list to craft something or you had to read the wiki for some information. Now, time passed by and you know all those things, you know the strategies (for mob fighting for example) and the contraptions (mob traps, train stations, wheat farms etc etc) making things easier than it used to be. "Minecraft is too easy" is too subjective and very relative for me.
For me, it doesnt matters how hard the game could be if you play long enough to get used to it. After you had a problem you find a solution and then you aply it whenever it appears and so on. This way you acummulate solutions and any difficulty stops being such thing and becomes something trivial.
What i wrote is something rough, i know but i guess yall get the point.
My issues is with the current "RPG" system. As you level up, I think you should have a base strength and defense increase as well.
To me this seems redundant. What is the point of "leveling up" if everything gets harder as you advance? I have always hated that about most games with a leveling system. To me, if you're going to need to level up it should be to overcome an obstacle; if they made it so you just couldn't kill zombies without being x many levels, that would be one thing. But making mobs and players grow at the same rate is pointless.
At any rate, the XP system isn't for leveling your character anyways. It is to spend on enchantments. I think you may be missing the idea that minecraft isn't really an rpg for a reason....
Also, has anyone noticed something the the location of the 3 strongholds?
If this is in regards to the dubiously seeming proximity of the strongholds to the spawn, it is probably because it would suck to have to travel thousands and thousands of blocks to find one. For now I think they are placed pretty appropriately. If you mean something else then I don't know.

I LOVE Minecraft but only have 2 issues, Not an ore between Iron and Diamond, and theres only really minecraft transportation, which is a pain to make. :/
-instead of making an update with lots of new things, try to improve old ones like a completely new forest overhaul or a swamp overhaul with new mobs and new things specific for these places(apply to any biome).
-the lack of more adventure for the game
-more reasons to go to the nether istead of just looking for the fortress and the blazes
-the lack of more minerals and nw blocks is just really bad, why not add LOTS of new minerals to the game...whic leads to:
-more mobs AND more weapons to balance it out, so then we can have critical weapons for specific mobs
it´s just that minecraft needs more diversity for different types of players.
Some of my issues...
1. The random chance of a Nether Fortress spawning close or far away...Sometimes,I have to walk for Minecraft miles to find a Fortress.
2. I agree with you on the feathers, chickens can sometimes be uncommen.
3. The uselessness of gold, though it is very enchantable.
4. Uselessness of sheep other then bed making. ADD LAMB CHOPS!!
5. (Don't remove them though!!!)
6. The really wimpy boss battle. I mean, you don't get anything for defeating something that has 100+ hearts...
By the way, Minecraft is not easy, this is one of the few games that a new challange ALWAYS emerges! Building that epic defense tower, creating that mob grinder that you have dreamed of, beating your arch rivel in PvP. Minecraft is only easy if you are boring enough to look at it that way. Other then the stuff listed above, Minecraft is perfect. :laugh.gif:

I would really love more underwater content. It would make oceans more.. useful. Maybe some new mobs in the deep ocean and deeper oceans? And seaweed possibly? I'm not sure, just my thoughts. Also compasses pointing to your beds would be cool too
I just want them to make the dang compass point to your bed after you sleep in it!
I've never understood the point of it pointing to your original spawn. I already know it's going to be +/- 100-300 unless I'm in an ocean, why does it matter!! I WANT TO KNOW WHERE MY HOUSE IS, NOT THE CENTER OF THE MAP.

That reminds me of rpg maker, except in rpg maker you had to build a game from the ground up, not just build in it. I got tired of work and wanted to have fun but still wanted freedom, MC came to me at the perfect time.
1.) Endermen could easily be killed by slashing away at their feet with a Wooden Sword (You could also use your fists if you want). Attacking their feet does not make them teleport away, which takes away the entire challenge of fighting them, making them just another zombie with higher health when fighting.
2.) The Enderman scream and stare sounds, how come they have not been added yet? They are so badass and would make Endermen hunting so much more fun and interesting in combination with problem #1 being fixed.
3.) The Enderdragon is more time-consuming than difficult. I mean, one hit with ANYTHING, and his damage is disabled. All you have to do now is just shoot some arrows at those obsidian pillars and beat the thing to death with your sword while it pushes you around. What I would like to see the dragon do is make roaring sounds, shoot fire at you, continue to damage you if it rams into you, and maybe even grab hold of you and strangle you with it's feet.
4.) Pigs are underpowered compared to the other passive breed-able mobs. They have a chance to drop 0 pork chops, which completely makes them pointless to farm unless there are no chickens and/or cows around.
The ore spawning system needs to be totally overhauled.
Coal shouldn't spawn near the top layer. It should only stat spawning at layer 35-40, and then the deeper you go from there the more common. Charcoal exists for a reason.
Iron should only generate between like layers 25-40(allowing you to make specific types of mines)
Gold should generate closer to the surface, it's useless, so why make us go down so deep for it?
Diamond should spawn layers 24 and below, and every level will have a better chance, but no more then 2 diamonds per chunk(Yes, I do know how big chunks are, but doing this will make diamond feel valuable again)
Redstone honestly needs to generate higher up, it is used for 1 thing.
With that system, mining will be easier, but not make ores overly common. You can make specific types of mines, which is fun.
Nether fortresses are too easy to access. I'd like to see them spawn in the middle of huge lava pools, so that it would be an actual challenge to access them.
I would also like to see some sort of slow falling spell or a parachute. Always wanted that in MC.
