I'm against them dropping iron ingots, and taking damage from water and fire, because iron doesn't burn, robots don't breathe, and even without water and fire, you can farm them via dungeon, so I think they should drop mossy iron, which is like a nerfed gold when used as a weapon, but looks cool. You could still make a dye factory out of it( but why?).Id like mossy iron though, and their blocks.
At least they fixed the stack-of-Iron-every-five-minutes farm.
And really, it kinda makes sense that they spawn slower, rather than faster. Where would villagers get the Iron to make a lot of them quickly?
Well, golems still do a bad job defending villages even when they are present, a long spawn rate is kind of scary. However, you're right, it seems reasonable in other ways. I just hope villages don't get wiped out at the edge of my screen.

You know, they could have just changed the Iron Golems to Stone Golems and made them drop Mossy Cobble, Mossy Brick and Cracked Brick, and they would have solved two problems in one.
Oh well. At least there's no ridiculous farm anymore.

They would have to nerf stone golems because they would be so easy to craft(unless it required mossy stone/cobble to build).
Honestly. All it would drop is decor blocks that are otherwise extremely limited.
Yeah, but in that case, like you said, it wouldn't be about the drops. In that case, you could easily create a defense golem army.
Right now they are difficult to craft but drop iron. I mean yeah, you can borrow a village golem, but for home defense the cost for a high-power golem is pretty balanced as it is right now.

dont bash mob traps. that part of the game because the game is a sand box game.
I'm not bashing traps. They do indeed take some time and skill to make and show clever uses of game mechanics, but I think mobs were intended to be faced and fought on a 1-by-1 basis rather than become a machine so efficient it would put the meat-packing industry to shame, as well as make PETA jump off cliffs in despair.
Even if that was the case (it is _NOT_ btw) everything that makes it harder for the player to protect villages makes villages more fun.
Protect a found village until an iron golem is spawned. At the day you can expand the village a bit.
I have to agree with this. I've found that fortifying and defending villages to be rather enjoyable, and depending on the circumstances challenging. Trying to expand a village, wall it off, and fight off mobs a heavy task but getting a nice population with golems is, at least to me, rewarding.
Hey! Hey you! Yeah you with the face! NARF!!
I think the obstacle you're facing is not the number of villagers,
but the amount of TIME it takes for iron golems to spawn now.
Well, the spawning rate is nerfed, but that would still make some difference.

Well, I have no idea then.
