I'm not sure if this topic should go here, but I think it's relevant to the fact that the height limit was supposed to be raised in 1.8 and yet, we're at 1.1 and it hasn't been implemented.
Don't get me wrong, the update is great, but shouldn't something they've already made simply be implemented?
From what i understand, there are technical limitations that prevent them from 'just adding it'.
I don't exactly believe so as they already "added" it once, they just never released it, instead opting for strongholds, abandoned mineshafts etc. You know the stuff that's pointless because you can't ever find them.

They "added" it by making it easier to mod, but have you seen the terrain generation when it's modded to be higher? Especially with mountain biomes, everything's a lot more vertical and it wouldn't make for a very balanced game.
And if you want to go above 256 in any of the mods that aren't cubic chunks, it's extremely laggy.
I suspect it will be added into the 'more world options' thing, just like the super-flat worlds. Unless they optimize the way the world is generated though, basically anything over 512 is unusable, 512 itself is quite laggy when loading new chunks. Oh, I also have a good computer so it's not so much for people that have good computers, it's probably just a limitation to the way chunks are loaded or with Java. :smile.gif:
Then make it an option when generating world. Have presets such as: 128(default), 512(tall), 1024(very tall).
If the height limit can be adjusted in classic, why not the full version?
Yeah, make it an option. Minecraft is a game about mining, but 60 blocks deep? ****ing please, that is pathetic. Do you all know how deep Terraria is?
Minecraft doesn't have to be THAT deep...But... The game would be much better with deeper mines and taller mountains.
Honestly 256 height should be the normal, (with the opinion for a 128 short world for laptops) 128 blocks deep, and 128 blocks tall. THAT would be perfect my friends.
The paralls of mining DEEP underground, with more and more lava as you search for diamonds.

why don't you just install the height mod :tongue.gif:
We should ask jeb to make an world option for Tall worlds.
Short World - 128
Normal World - 256
Tall World - 512
The increased height worlds would be optimized for mountains and such to be formed epically, and smoothly.
I would PAY Jeb money to do this, it would make the game SO much better. Mines that are actually deep, making them more dangerous since it would take longer to get out, more lava, more...just AWESOME.
Man.

Just to clarify, the Cubic Chunks mod worked fine. There's no reason why height cannot be as infinite as the four cardinal directions - load 16 x 16 x 16 blocks at a time. Vertical blocks fade in and out like the draw distance: no lag.

When the modding API comes out I probably will if this isn't already implemented. I need this in vanilla due to the fact that I sort of need it for Dante's Inferno.

It seems like it would be hard to get caves to generate larger on the taller maps. Probably do-able, but not as easy as just upping the map height under world types.

there is a mod that gives you options for different world types so stop complaining

...But that's just my opinion.

Don't ask for proof because I am not scanning twitter for it sorry.

That won't work if someone wants to play that on Survival. Not enough materials to do much building, unless you plan to build huge dirt structures.

Every excuse from Mojang is just that: an excuse.

Remember kids, when the mod crashes delete system32!

plus we just got superflat isnt that good enough for you people?
