first of all: this is not a suggestion, it's discussion on how people would like the idea, please dont move this moderators
now to the topic, we have books that can be found in villages and in stronghold so why not put them to good use, Mojang could do anything from serious fiction to a diary of a villager saying "I was chased by a pig yesterday"
we might even be able to establish fiction about who built the mineshafts or giveing the player a reason to try and get to the end, maby some anchiant story villagers have about the dragon and the people who built strongholds.
and with strongholds we could have insight on who built them and a story of how it got abbandoned. for example "Every day more and more men are sent in to defeat the endermen, but none have retured."
what would you think about something like this happening?
I've always wanted lore in Minecraft, this would be the most interesting way to do it.
All the people who say MC shouldn't have an 'end' are going to ***** up a storm, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be added.
It still belongs in the suggestions.... And nah. Maybe the ability to write text in the books would be cool, but I don't see the point in having books with random boring stories. It's alright in Skyrim, because you learn from reading the books, but in Minecraft.. nope.
what do you mean you wouldnt learn or benefit from it?
what part of "It would give you incentive and an actual reason to fight the enderdragon" do you not understand. and you still would learn lore

Agreed.
Giving MC Some sort of lore should be fun, If it is written good/Thought out.

Btw. I made my avatar Graphic, Do not steal. Or use without Meh permission.
The Creeper in the Rye should be one, I'm sure there's many titles of famous books to be changed to suit minecraft
King Solomon's Mineshafts could be another
eh... I dont know how well those would work out as stuff for Lore. maby doing something like you suggested for personal stories or something about the village but not lore.
lore in minecraft would be great like you click on villagers and they give you a story or something and also some books will show you how to craft certain iteams or possably alchemy and stuff i find alchemy confuzing after i learnt it i was like hell yeah ima posion all those creepers lol but yeah and a book about the end would give more reason to fight the dragon
Testificate Diary: [I/Insert Testificate name here] was chased down by [insert mob name here] [Today/Yesterday],
[But[I/Testificate] [something] it]/and] [it] [something] to [me/Testificate]].
yeah obveously some stuff like villager personal life should be random, but stuff about the endermen and enderdragon should be random.
and about the person with alchamey i dont know if a visual guide could be implemented by defeniately a verbal description could be done. maby it should be in strongholds though, because if you can start brewing you can start looking for a stronghold
I like the idea of diaries, it might be cool to find stuff like...
"I just made a very interesting item today
by crafting 2 string and 3 sticks together"
along with a fishing pole in a chest.
This would give the player an item and an idea about how to make it without being an outright tutorial. This could be helpful for some of the lesser known items/recipes.
If there's lore, I think there should be various conflicting stories about stuff.
Absolutely hate this idea. If actual backstory is added to the game, then the players wouldn't be able to imagine their own, which would make Minecraft a lot worse.
We desperately need to be able to write in the books. It's amazing to me that this hasn't been implemented yet considering how obvious it is and how easy it would be. As for discover-able Minecraft lore... hell yeah.

it's not a backstory for the player it's a backstory for the world. keeps what you want to do pretty open if you ask me and gives you a reason to survive and steve not to just kill himself under the pressure of mobs

Remember kids, when the mod crashes delete system32!
yeah as long as they dont expand on who the player is it should work out fine.

A lot of the features in Minecraft aren't exactly obvious, unless you read Twitter and the wiki.
Agreed.
