The new EXP bottles seem to be mostly a reservoir for people in creative to get enchanted items, but I rather like the idea of storing exp safely. Do you, the community, think we should be able to enchant bottles?
Perhaps the level of exp enchanted on the bottle will store that much exp? Perhaps AFTER enchanting said bottle, you could also simply craft the bottle with whatever item you want to enchant to have the ability to do so on the go? This seems like it would reward adventure map players quite a bit, rather than dropping random enchanted loot on them left and right, they get stored exp, or a bottle to enchant their equipment with.
No. Because people are just going to store all their exp in a bottle instead of risking it. It would screw up the hardcore scoring system, and remove the risk from the risk/reward part of the enchantment system.

There's absolutely no reason to use them on Hardcore. If you die, you lose your map.
Depends on how hard they will be to craft, If it is just like a mundane potion that is enchanted, then no. But if there was a rediculously hard brewing setup that included maybe like, diamonds and gold nuggets and that resulted into into a new potion maybe something like "Failed Potion of EXP", and then enchanted, then yes.
Why so expensive? Maybe a gold nugget, possibly a bar, but much more and it's not worth it. It'd be a convenience, possibly a service online for exp farmers, then they sell bottles so you can speed enchant lower levels as opposed to grinding for the exact period of time you need to get a certain exp. It's quicker to get to 20 TWICE than it is to get to 40 once.
Nothing that goes into it needs to be of extremely limited supply. Nuggets and gold are infinitely recurring, so I like that.

Feel free to speculate.
I thought that's what they did from the start lol.
I think it'd be nice to have them in dungeon chests.
And perhaps if you enchant a bottle of water, it will give you half the levels back when broken? Perhaps even a quarter - this could be changed to balance it.
It becomes a slower and space consuming but more safe and reliable way to get levels.
This is a nice alternative. Allows people to store EXP or even trade it in SMP, while the reduced return on the EXP (when drunk) is the cost for its safety.
If they were to be put into survival, I think that you should be able to craft them by making a bottle and putting whichever mob drop item you want. The mob drop item will basically be a proof to you killing the animal converting it into XP points in the bottle
I think they should be added into survival as a hard crafting recipe. Like, a bottle, an iron ingot, and 2 gold nuggets. Then it should be enchantable, and whatever exp the enchant is, is how much would be stored in the bottle.
So, if you dont want in it in SP, dont use it, but people in multiplayer can use it as currency.

note: Then I mention a group of people in my posts, i mean the majority of information i have seen from that group, and my statement may not be accurate for every individual in that group.
It REALLY doesn't work in survival as a reward because it gives crap exp. Oh boy, a chest with one bottle full of a sheep's worth of exp. Joy to the world... :sleep.gif:
Needs to be HIGH exp yield (at least enough to get from 0 to 10), or its useless as a reward. Now, as a craftable item with variable exp, it becomes a pretty reliable way to save time if you want to stockpile enchantment points to use at a later date.
I really don't see why there's such an overwhelmingly negative response to this... Doesn't hurt anything.
You'd like to find bottles in stronghold/dungeon chests. These bottles can be used to store experience, instead of keeping it upon your person where it can be potentially lost upon death.
I like the idea of being able to bank my experience.

Well, that wasn't my original idea, though it's not a bad idea to have very specific vials to hold the exp. I just don't think they should be uncraftable, personally.
They drop 3 huge exp orbs, how much does that equate to?
I think it would be a cool rare item to add in chests, maybe as rare as golden apples.
It's currently very little exp, like an average mob's worth. The exp would need to be pretty sizeable to be worth a mention in chest rewards. I think said chests are just far too rare to make these even worth putting in. Golden apples are the ultimate food, cocoa beans will eventually be plantable, melons are a source of low-maintenence food, and health potions... but a one-use exp bottle with a mob's worth of exp isn't worth it. Not unless it was like a stack of them, or the up it's yield by a rate that's simultaneously "bananas" and "through the roof."
I don't think XP should ever be able to be stored in survival. One of the best things about XP is that the more you have the less risk you want to take. Allowing xp to be stored externally removes this element of the game which I like.
How about using the new refined golden apples plus something else to get a small amount of exp from each one. Emphasis on small, meaning that when it comes to the point where you own everything in a world you shouldn't just be able to craft hundreds of levels

Eh, I prefer storage over crafting. You can literally just go out and kill things faster than you can get the materials to craft them.
