Thought I would let you guys know, what does everyone think? Maybe we'll get something that wasn't in the weekly updates, but not much probably. DISCUSS!!

jeb_ Jens Bergensten Did you notice we updated Cobalt to v101a last week? playcobalt.com Also, I think we'll update Minecraft to 1.1 tomorrow... 1 hour ago
I don't like this at all. Unless jeb perfected the terrain from what we saw last week (which left a lot to be desired) it'd be another rushed update. :dry.gif:
I'm sure he tweaked it a bit based on feedback, or maybe not. But one thing for sure is this is not a rushed update, we're not getting half finished anything(like some features from 1.8 and 1.0) , and people aren't clamoring for it like 1.8 and 1.0 lol. Also It's been a while since the last update..... Not saying they've been working on it in that whole timeframe though.
EDIT: They got Mod API and Mob AI done that fast and Made beaches better? Sure they did.... :dry.gif:
I don't remember them saying that would be in this update, then again they really didn't say much about what would be in it.... Unless you got a source? Cause I just remember him saying that stuff would be in the "future" which is what they usually say to cover their butts(since they promised pistons as early as 1.5 and the adventure update for 1.7) lol

'I'll release an update sometime this month'
Me:'That's nice, there's been several snapshots released, it's not like Jeb needs a lot of content in an update now that we're past beta'
'I might release it tomorrow . . . '
Me:"YAY! ^^ In all honesty I don't know how it will turn out completely so I can't tell for sure if it'll be 'rushed' or not . .. '.
Basically we don't know if it will feel rushed. I don't think it will . . . the post-Beta updates will probably be collections of snapshots, so you have the snapshots every week, then every once in a while they release an update officially of some of those snapshots.
But i'm surprised he's gone back on what he said earlier so quickly. I thought it was a curse to say when you're gonna release an update? XD
Dude, and you shouldn't put all your faith in a wiki, and also I checked all the sources that said those features would be in this update, and none of them said that they would be specifically in this update, but you never know, if you look at the topic on this forum about the new A. I on zombies then it's a possibility they could have some better mob A. I and maybe the mod a.p.i but I doubt it.

messy or not the terrain is better. plus their are a few other features that need to get released and should be made open to the public as an update.
This is pretty normal - not every update is going to be a huge game changer. Jens has been working on stuff for the better part of a month and a half, time to get some of what's ready out there - not to mention some of the bug fixes he's worked on (probably the main reason he's releasing an update)
I kinda laugh when people resort to the wiki when they know they're wrong. Keep in mind the wiki can be edited by 12 year olds anywhere, anytime. Don't always rely on the wiki. It's based off the community, and is not always right. It usually gets fixed when more in-depth information is released.

Ironically, I get annoyed with the fact that there are still people who handwave and discredit wikis in this manner.
Yes, of course they can be edited by anyone. No one denies that can still happen. But they are far more useful and accurate levels of information than you are willing to give credit for.
I think some of you just live in the past on this. And I suspect it's only when it's suits your argument. IE, you are in disagreement with something on a wiki, so it's probably "posted by some 12 year old". But if it suits your argument, you probably recognize the usefulness of said wiki.
It's not black and white. They aren't perfect, but nor are they useless.
The thing is; a bit isn't gonna cut it. There needs to be massive tweaking! There are still hardly any real mountains in the other biomes, and the "extreme hills" biome is still very dissatisfying. If he hasn't tweaked more and we get what we saw in the last snapshot, then everyone who wanted better terrain will have basically been shafted again....
I wanted better terrain, and I don't feel shafted. Those who felt there should have been more need to quit setting your standards so high when Mojang has yet to fulfill any of those silly ideas. If it isn't people complaining the hills aren't high enough, we got people complaining there isn't enough flat land for what they want to do. Even with superflat land there are people still complaining about that.
You can either continue being unhappy in which case you will just get tired of the game for no good reason, or you can look for what is good in the game and find new enjoyment in it. In the end, even with user input, it is still up to Mojang what goes into Minecraft. Overall, I am not disappointed in the game which is enough for me.
It's ridiculous to expect perfection. You can either learn to accept the flaws and take advantage of them, or find something else that you can enjoy.

A wiki where anyone can edit isn't a source. A twitter or blog post is a source.

that doesn't mean that it's a definite yes.
Remember kids, when the mod crashes delete system32!

yeah but that stuff takes time to do, Jeb said March earliest for a release a while ago.
Nobody said that the Mod API and Mob AI would be in the next update.
Added proper color transitions for the darkened Swamp Biomes into other biomes
Changed biomes to be slightly more varied, examples of which being hills in forests and deserts
Added beaches, having been removed in Beta 1.8
