1.0.0 has added so many things I love and has made the game so interesting. I started playing in very early alpha and loved it then too. After I've beaten the end its just, I don't feel the games over per say but that I can't really find much else to do. I used to have fun just making a tiny house and a farm and I could play like that for weeks and now, I just don't know. Does anyone else feel the same way?
---I noticed it happens for me when I play multi and go back to single or when I do the same things over and over. It's also when I put myself through arduous tasks just making one project and I hate myself for forcing myself to finish the project.
---I started trying new things in survival mode like mineshaft diving(looking for them on ocean floor), making note block songs, becoming a nomad, making a lapis statue, making cities with minetracks connected between, making sky castles, looking for piston glitches etc.
---I wouldn't necessarily say, "You're getting bored because you're not creative." There are always those times where you think of interesting things but you still feel they would be pointless to make. You felt like you did enough just thinking about them. This game is easy to get back into once you get random inspiration.
When you're just doing the sandbox thing, building your base, surviving by farming, defensing yourself, etc etc.. You never get "closure".
Once you reach the end, and beat it, you get closure on all your previous struggles. They're now resolved. The problem is that the thing you've resolved and overcome, was your very motivation to play the game in the first place.

I think it depends on how you change things up. If you stay in your world and do things without visiting the end, you never experience that rapid closure like you said. When I play multiplayer a while, things are used in ways they normally wouldn't and people can be bitter or bored. When you go back to single you feel like your world is somewhat ruined because there's not as much going on or that you've seen everything built already.
Change is always strange, pants are for men who can't handle the elements!
Must be a placebo affect.
The game never finishes, not sure why you ever thought that, the End is a milestone with an undoubtedly misleading name. But after the End you generally go crazy on Enchantments and stuff :>
There isn't a lot you really obtain from the End.
Also, you can do essentially the same number of things in the game before and after 'beating it' so . . .that's probably why you're bored. You expected something more and got nothing more :3
I usually play for spirts of ~10 hours in a world then get bored for a month
Then I come back and do it again ^^

Why do people never spell phrases from other languages correctly? A while ago someone said 'on mass'...
Help us at soartex.net!
Because their meanings have transcended spelling and implanted themselves into the English language. It's just linguistic evolution.
