QUICKEST XP IN THE GAME
Ender Dragon. Can only be killed once. If you do this don't be a fool and run around and collect all 75 levels or so worth of xp. Collect to level 50, enchant an item, collect to 50, enchant an item. You get many many more level 50 items off a single ender dragon this way. So make sure you take an enchanting table and all the items you want to enchant with you for the boss fight. Because once he is down you have 5 mins till the xp despawns to get as many high level enchants as you can.
#1 XP RATE
Mob farm
Advantages:
- Massive xp income rate
- Thousands of itmes per hour as a bonus
- No itmes required to use once its set up
Disadvantages
- Takes a very long time and a lot of resources to set up initially
Mob farms (with black spawning rooms) rigged to piston crushers which drop zombies to 1 punch from dead and kill all other mobs (cuz Zombies have more armor) that allow you to 1 punch zombies to death are the fastest, safest and most rewarding way to level by far. However they also take the longest to setup (And not a lot of people have worked out ways to get their spawners working in 1.0 yet for some reason.. Mines working fine :biggrin.gif:)
EQUAL SECOND XP RATES
Blaze Spawners:
Advantages
- High xp per kill
- Setup ranges from none (run in with a sword and fire resist potions) to moderate (build a piston based funnel with piston crusher)
Disadvantages
- Depending on design can requre weapons and/or fire resist potions to use
Blaze spawners are the best spawner based xp farms because Blaze give you 10 xp (Twice the xp of regular mobs), if you can find 2 blaze spawners within 16 blocks of each other so you can make a twin spawner even better. Depending on your design blaze traps may require the use of fire resist potions (8min duration with redstone added), which is fine but does require 1 piece of slime for every 3 potions you make.
Slime Farm:
Advantages
- Lots of resources gained duration creation (diamonds, redstone, iron etc)
- Killing 1 massive slime and all its offspring is the highest xp per enemy in the game (Not counting ender dragon)
- You probably already have your slime farm 1/3 built if you have a pheonix mine or branch mine (Just pop out the remaining walls between your shafts
- Precious precious slime
Disadvantages
- Needs weapons to make kills
Slime farms are technically another spawning room design, however they don't require any water or grinders. The best way to make one of these is to litterally just make a 2 tall room which is as big as you can be bothered somewhere in the diamond layer. (You can make them anywhere from 40 down now, but if you have to make a 75x75x2 hole it may aswell be where the diamonds are instead of somewhere with the same spawnrates but no diamonds). Unlike conventional spawn rooms you want to have this place VERY well lit so that slims can still spawn but nothing else can. Then just run around in circles killing slimes that are spawning. (Remember mobs can not spawn within 25 blocks of you, so you want to make the room at least 3x that size so there is a large spawnable area no matter where in the room you are. Also note that mobs can no spawn on glowstone (as it is transparent). Any glowstone or torches should be placed in the roof or walls, not on the floor.
Umm, aren't slime chunks only 16 blocks across? Unless you have multiple slime chunks next to each other, that design sounds wasteful.
Yes, but if you mine out a giant area there will be several slime chunks in it. I just turned my old mine into a slime room and there seems to be 4 spots in the room they can spawn. I go down and kill them every now and then. Average 40 slime per run.
You could use an editor to find locations for them first if you want, but I don't see the need to use thrid party programs when all you have to do it dig a big hole. (Which you half have already from your mine)
