The double doors in 1.0 don't work correctly. I can't believe not much people noticed that.
Exactly, a correctly placed pressure plate will open both of them, but only close one. Clearly the intent was for both of them to open and close together, just hasn't been worked out yet.
Double doors have always functioned this way. If you look at them closely you'll notice that the right side door has the handle on the left (so both handles are in the middle). This is achieved by the door being shift when another is placed next to it. The door is basically rotated 90 degrees. When the doors appear to be "closed" one of the doors is actually open to give the appearance of both handles being in the middle. When you start introducing pressure plates (which give the same signal as redstone) then one of the doors will appear to be "open" when it should be "closed" because that is the door's default "off" position (in other words it is actually closed, but the way the door is oriented to solve the handle issue makes it appear to be open in relation to the other door).
I've never seen any reports of this changing at any time. It's not really a "bug" because everything is working as intended, just a weird side-effect of double doors.
If you want to use pressure plates then you'll have to invert the signal to one door.
I seriously just sat here and laughed. Hard. omggg *wipes tears from my eyes*
