No it doesn't! Boy am I sick of seeing this remark that minecraft has or is losing its creative aspect. Anyone who thinks this way is flat out angry-mobbing for no good reason at all. The claims are totally unjustified, completely fictitious, and the product of a mass misunderstanding and refusal to understand. What about minecraft's creative-outlet aspect is swept aside by optional tasks, quests, and bosses? What about minecraft becomes less open ended by optional features like potions and enchanting? Not a single goddamn thing. The End isn't even really the end, you can keep playing as long as you want!
ALL SANDBOX GAMES IN THE HISTORY OF SANDBOX GAMES HAVE HAD A STORYLINE TO A MUCH DEEPER EXTENT THAN MINECRAFT EVER WILL.
Interestingly enough, Minecraft is going and has always been going in the exact direction Notch has stated it would go for a very long time.
You sir, are totally missing my point. I am not sure that I can get you to either the way your acting, and maturity level with the insult at the end.
My point is, new players coming into the game will be much more inclined to just follow the story as opposed to shaping the world the way they see fit. That fact is seen in many mainstream games, a lot of gamers just rush through to the end then move onto the next game.

I don't believe it is a fair judgement to pass some sweeping generalization over incoming players that they will not enjoy the game the same way you or I do simply because it has new features. If anything the new features will draw new players attracted to new things; there is no reason to try and force them to play the game any way other than they want.
Which, I firmly believe, is a point Mojang is trying to stress by adding so many optional features to the game; increasing the many ways the game can be played. Regardless of what they add, Minecraft will remain a completely open-ended game that is an amazing outlet for creativity. Nothing will change that. Continuing to fear monger the notion that "Minecraft is dying, Notch is the devil, There is no creativity left in minecraft" etc is pure ********. If you don't want to go to the End, simply stay out and nothing about your experience, or anyone other player's experience, will change.
There is no sound logic in trying to dictate how you perceive others should or will play minecraft.
Okay, what?
How is having the option for an endgame preventing this from being a sandbox?
You can play creative, if you want, or, Hell, just don't go to the End.

Well I hope your right and I am wrong honestly, time will tell. I am not "fear mongering" either, just discussing which is what forums are for..

You have to see where I am coming from; there an absurd amount of forum posts expressing quite vocally that Minecraft is ruined, when it objectively has not changed enough for that to be true. People simply aren't digesting the facts as they are, rather they are becoming alarmed and spouting out The-Minecraft-World-End-Is-Very-Nigh, and it is high time that stopped.
Kill the dragon, take 70+ levels of xp and go back to surviving....
This.
1. Fight enderboss
2. Get ender egg using piston
2a. Get loads of Endstone using TNT
3. hop through portal
4. Go make a sammich and cup of tea while mandatory 8 minute cutscene blathers on
5. ...
6. Profit
Clearly the entire game experience has been ruined by simply adding a boss fight and stupid pseudo-philosophical splash text with credits. Obviously minecraft will never play the same again. It no longer lets you build, explore, collect resources and survive. All it is is a dumb RPG now.

This guy right here is trying to give me a stroke, at my young age.
Nothing has really changed. The boss fight is totally optional for one. Plus, even after the boss fight you can still do whatever you want because you are taken back to your spawn point. You can ever re-fight the boss multiple times if you just delete your Ender World from your .minecraft folder. You can skip the cutscene by pressing ESC.
Many people here are throwing around the rpg so casually and using it the wrong way.
Role Playing Game. Yes Minecraft is an RPG in that you are role playing a survivor, miner, builder, slayer, cook, farmer, etc.
Right now the game has no end. Until you do something in the game that doesnt let you play and credits start rolling from the bottom of the screen then there is no end.
Stop bitching.
No, Minecraft is not a role playing game, it's a sandbox building game.

Just waiting for Forge to officially release for 1.13.x to remove unneeded mobs from 1.13, like Phantoms, from the game because, in my gameplay based opinion, they add nothing of value to the game.
Fun fact: Clicking a bed every 30 minutes doesn't make you a better player, it makes you one who clicks a bed every 30 minutes. Wouldn't you rather just mod them out of the game completely?

I apologize for calling you 12.
I do understand where you are coming from completely it is rather annoying seeing that all over the place especially the topics with no description of their problems just to cause a up rise.
If it is such a building game, then why are there enemies, weapons and other stuff that wouldn't fit in a building game, I mean, come on, there are enemies that BLOW STUFF UP!
So what? So do FPS games?
You build the weapons or have an ability to do so, and it's more akin to a FPS than a RPG.

Minecraft isnt dead. Thats for sure. You guys are making such big deals about things like this, that arnt even required to progress through the game!

Notch said he intends to make it and RPG sandbox game.
He said he intended it to be a rouge-like game. Which it is. Which I could only describe to someone as an RPG sandbox....
HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmm
That was not me, that was the OP that said that.
