I really like the ending, there should be music in the credits. It would also be cool if he dragon breathed :VV:, acually that should be on hardcore mode
I liked the idea of those super powerfull beings talking but it shouldnt have been about minecraft being a game, it should have been some lore about the game, like them makeing strongholds long ago, or what the endermen wanted all this time

After you say that and after I look at your avatar I imagine the end saying, "You were killed by the guardians".
I really don't care that there is an "ending" since it isn't one at all given you respawn. However, the ending itself is an incoherent mess and a horrible narrative. The entities speaking to/about you obviously suffer from ADD.
To be honest, it fit but I think sandboxes really shouldn't have an ending. Just my opinion here. The ending was very deep and epic, though- and I hate using the word epic.
Hahaha, When i read the ending it seemed like it meant: "Thank you for playing our unfinished game and for giving ous your money. You will when you stoped playing this game understand that it wasn't that good and we could made it a lot better, if we would have used the money to hire in better game developers, instead of Me(Notch)That just stole ideas from other games and from the community, but i love you, the player for giving me all money. You have played the game now. Wake up. Stop play it. Live your real life instead." *Ending with a citate that prove my point even more*
Well, it still is a sandbox game. Once you get to the ending, and the credits are over, you still can play after that. So it's still a sandbox game. :tongue.gif:
In the end, I found baby endermen (AWESOME!). But, there should have been an actual point to the end, a kind of motivation. Like a scenario, and villagers should have been included in the stuff. Like the dragon had been terrorizing villages, and you get like a special cape if you beat him legit or something. It just needs motivation. Like a cape and more baby endermen. ;D
I blogged about this. Basically, I think the ending could have been done a lot better. The Enderman wasn't particularly unique, rather a borrowing of Slenderman. Then from this comes the End dimension, which is nothing more than a floating island in an endless expanse of darkness and void. You fight a DRAGON that uses CRYSTALS, two things which are already heavily present in MMOs. The naming scheme of End, Enderman, and Enderdragon doesn't even work outside the English language.
I appreciate the game because I enjoy playing games others enjoy making. That and the fact that it's a sandbox game where you can choose to create what you want out of it really makes this irrelevant. Notch's end is Notch's end, mine is my own.

The only reason most people dont like it is because they dont understand the true meaning of the two spirits talking. Insteas they are "creeped out" and are afraid to probe the true meaning of the story. You have to look past the fear and realize how beautiful the meaning of the story is. I truly enjoyed it but it should be for a different game; not a sandbox.
I didn't like the ending because it was so jarring and out of place. Also the discussion happening sounded like someone who only half paid attention in Philosophy 101 in college. It was a meandering tale of two people trying to sound deep.
I'm also not a fan of, if you don't like it, you don't have to do it because it's still part of the game's experience, and as such can affect any and all of us. Excluding people's opinion with the wave of the, "Just don't do it" wand misses the point entirely that I feel Notch, or whoever wrote it I am just assuming at the very least he green-lit it, dropped the ball on this one. If they wanted to do an ending, that's fine. I'm all for an actual ending, thanks for playing, here's your world back, but I don't think a wall of text that's pretending to be deep when it's just the same trite, faux intellectual stuff about being one with the universe.
Though, I will confess that for all my complaints about it, I don't have a better answer, or at least an answer that wouldn't probably get just as many people up in arms because it'd still be an ending to a sandbox game, which is apparently not allowed and I somehow missed that Gamer Law being passed.

Ditto, the end should have been more expanded. It was too easy and too little was gained. More of a story and reason should have came out, it was made for doing a one-time thing. Ever. It should be more detailed and expanded. More so on other things too, like villagers.
Thread in a nutshell
3/5 of the people think the ending sucked
2/3 of that group are just jumping on the bandwagon and dont know what they are talking about
1/2 of the people in the orginal group don't like the end because they are impatient and can't stand to read a little text after 10 hours of playing
1/5 of the original group are talking about the dragon end and not the text end
2/5 of the original group think that the story is about them and it "hurts their feelings" and that "Notch should respect his players".
2/3 of the original group don't even understand the end.
1/5 of the thread likes the end
The other 1/5 think sit could have been improved
I, on the other hand, see how in no way the ending text could at all effect the gameplay of minecraft, the only way it really could is because you have to stop playing for like, 5 minuets, and read an interesting story. Unless you're overly self-councious and think Notch is insulting you (Notch didn't even write the text, if you read the credits), it should not be removed, besides the fact that it could have been written better.
