Yeah, potions are very cool I am happy with them. Enchantments are okay, but I really wish they had dedicated more time to something more exciting. Something like, a new ore, or make it possible to trade with NPC villagers or at least put something of value in the village. I basically wish there was more content on the surface. Like randomly spawned castles with mini bosses at the top. Anyone else agree?

Have you ever seen WoW players? Go tell them that their game is repetitive and stupid see what they do.
If Mojang had taken that approach, then there would be people on the forums complaining about more worthless content on the surface and not enough gameplay enhancements.
People will always find something to complain about.

That is precisely why Notch should have stopped listening to the posters in this forum long ago. His gut feeling was to create a creative construction sandbox game, and his gut feeling produced a game that brought in over three and a half million buyers even before the game was officially released. He should have pursued that direction - focused on a couple of new tiers of tools to fill that giant gap between iron and diamond, focused on adding new ores so that we could have a little variety in building materials. Should have made villages and villagers useful to the sandbox game - ie make them traders and healers and shopkeepers. Should have given us ways to convert excess materials into cash for the shopkeepers.
Instead he decided it was absolutely vital to try to compete with a game that isn't anything like Minecraft, and listened to dopes on the forum who wouldn't know what they want if it bit them on the face.
And now look at the state of his game. A ton of incomplete, unrelated features that don't mesh and don't feel like they even belong in the game. To me the game feels like the writer who can't focus long enough to make a single coherent paragraph, so his story is unreadable an incomprehensible. Minecraft is a scatterbrain piece of programming with no focus.
It's an okay game. It used to be an awesome game with awesome prospects. I no longer look forward to updates because I know they aren't going to have anything to do with the Minecraft that I enjoy. So personally, I could care less if there was another update to this game. And if I hadn't bought it already, I wouldn't buy it now.

Sigh... If this is how you really feel, then I am sorry to say that you are of the minority opinion. Just go look at the various polls in these forums asking whether people like or dislike the new 1.8 and 1.9-prerelease features. Most of the polls indicate anywhere from 75% to 90% actually like the new stuff, and agree with the direction Mojang is taking Minecraft.
The reason why there appears to be so many angry people on these boards is that people who are unhappy with the changes are compelled to start new topics, whereas people who are happy with Minecraft generally don't feel the need to spam the forums with new topics voicing how much they like the game.
Im sorry i cant take you post seriously with that profile picture, but i will try...
Yes i agree, when i first heard there was gonna be other people in minecraft i was very excited but then i saw how they looked, huge buzz kill for me they look ugly out of place and i didnt understand what was the porpuse of them.
Then i heard and saw that they have the AI of pigs and as soon as you open the doors they just run away never to be seen again, that kinda killed that hopes for interactions with other humans in minecraft (that arent real people).
But even after all that, im still happy we finally got something that is like humans and dragons and tons of other cool stuff.
So im still excited for the update.
Second) You owe me a new keyboard, cause as soon as I saw that avatar I spit coffee from my nose.
Third) That profile pic. More coffee, more nose. ouch.
Fourth) Your sig. They will whine and QQ about it on the forums from their level 1 gnome mage alt or their level 55 blood elf death knight alt.
Fifth) Actually on topic now!
New ore would be too confusing on an official level. Leave that for cheap modders trying to get you to click an ad link so they can buy MW3. I can't think of a single new ore that would add any depth to the game with out screwing up all that we're used to. Add something in between wood and iron, now you have to make iron more rare to compensate.
Villagers, YES!
Villages should have been left out till they where done. In 1.8 they are resource farms.
In 1.9 they are resource farms with derpy guys running about getting in your way.
They need to give quests, buy and sell with the player and kick the player's ass if he so much as punches one in the face or removes a wood log from a house.
that village mod (millionaire or some such) that is in the yogbox would have been great. Tone it down so it doesn't become the whole game and POW, you have awesome villagers.
that name... ;D
Actually it's really easy to code... Especially for someone as experienced as Notch and Jeb.
People will always find something to complain about.

the makers of major mods like yogbox or adventure craft?
